Operation

1. Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the unit is turned off.
  2. Insert a fully charged RYOBI 40-Volt battery into the battery port until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, press the battery release latch and slide the battery out.

2. Starting and Stopping

  • To start: Press and hold the safety button, then squeeze the trigger switch.
  • To stop: Release the trigger switch.

3. Using the Vacuum/Mulching Function

The unit is designed to vacuum leaves and mulch them into the collection bag. The metal impeller efficiently reduces leaf volume.

  • Position the nozzle over the leaves you wish to collect.
  • Move the unit slowly and steadily over the debris. The adjustable wheels assist in gliding over various terrains.
  • Avoid vacuuming wet leaves or large, heavy objects as this can clog the unit or damage the impeller.

The variable speed dial allows you to adjust the suction power. Turn the dial to increase or decrease the speed based on the task:

  • Higher Speed: For large piles of dry leaves and tougher debris.
  • Lower Speed: For precision vacuuming around delicate plant beds or lighter debris.

5. Emptying the Collection Bag

  1. Turn off the unit and remove the battery.
  2. Unfasten the collection bag from the discharge port.
  3. Locate the zipper on the bag and open it to empty the mulched leaves.
  4. Close the zipper and reattach the bag securely before resuming operation.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tool.

  • Cleaning: After each use, ensure the unit is off and the battery is removed. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth. Remove any debris from the intake and discharge ports.
  • Impeller Inspection: Periodically inspect the metal impeller for damage or excessive wear. If damaged, contact customer support for replacement parts.
  • Collection Bag Care: Empty the bag regularly. Wash the bag with mild soap and water if necessary, and allow it to air dry completely before reattaching. Inspect for tears or damage.
