4. Installation and Wiring

4.1 Mounting

The SDM-10/U device is designed for DIN rail mounting. Securely attach the device to a standard 35mm DIN rail within an electrical enclosure.

4.2 Wiring Connections

Refer to the wiring diagram on the side of the device and Figure 2 for proper electrical connections. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Navigation

Use the buttons below the display for navigation and programming:

5.2 Setting Time and Date

  1. Press the Clock button to enter the main menu.
  2. Navigate to 'Time/Date' using the arrow buttons and press OK.
  3. Adjust the year, month, day, hour, and minute using the arrow buttons, confirming each with OK.

5.3 Programming Acoustic Signal Schedules

The device allows for detailed scheduling of acoustic signals, such as school bells.

  1. From the main menu, navigate to 'Program' and press OK.
  2. Select 'New Program' or edit an existing one.
  3. Set the start time and end time for the signal.
  4. Define the duration of the signal (e.g., bell ring length).
  5. Specify the days of the week for the program to be active.
  6. Configure specific settings for class duration, break length, and first-hour timing as required.
  7. Save the program using the OK button.

5.4 Alarm Control Input (IN1)

The IN1 terminal allows for remote activation of an acoustic signal. When a signal is applied to IN1, the device will trigger a pre-configured alarm sound, overriding the regular schedule if set to do so.

5.5 BANK2 Control Input (IN2)

The IN2 terminal enables switching to an alternative set of programmed schedules. This is useful for scenarios like shortened school days or special event schedules. Activate IN2 to switch to the BANK2 schedule group.

6. Maintenance

The Zamel SDM-10/U device requires minimal maintenance. Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the unit.
