2. Setup
2.1 SIM Card Installation
Before powering on the router, insert your Micro SIM card into the designated slot. Ensure the SIM card is correctly oriented as shown in the diagram below. The router is compatible with standard 4G FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE operators.
Figure 2.1: Rear view of the Archer MR600 router showing the Micro SIM card slot. Insert the SIM card into the slot until it clicks into place.
2.2 Power On
Connect the provided power adapter to the router's power port and then plug it into a wall outlet. The router will automatically power on. Wait for the LED indicators to stabilize, typically indicating a successful connection to the 4G network.
2.3 Initial Configuration
The Archer MR600 is designed for Plug&Play operation. Once the SIM card is inserted and the router is powered on, it should automatically connect to the internet. If a PIN is required for your SIM card, you will need to unlock it through the router's web management interface or the TP-Link Tether app.
To access the web management interface:
- Connect your computer to the router via an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. The default Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password are printed on the label at the bottom of the router.
- Open a web browser and enter http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
- Log in using the default username and password (usually 'admin' for both).
- Follow the on-screen Quick Setup instructions to configure your internet connection and Wi-Fi settings.
Alternatively, download the TP-Link Tether app on your smartphone for easy setup and management.
3. Operating
3.1 Wi-Fi Connectivity
The Archer MR600 provides dual-band AC1200 Wi-Fi, offering speeds up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 867Mbps on the 5GHz band. This allows for flexible connections for various devices, from basic browsing to high-bandwidth activities like streaming and gaming.
The router also incorporates MU-MIMO Technology, which enables it to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously. This significantly improves Wi-Fi efficiency and speed, especially in environments with many connected devices, reducing latency and optimizing performance.

3.2 Wired Connections
The router is equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet ports: three LAN ports and one configurable LAN/WAN port. These ports provide ultra-fast wired connections for devices that require maximum stability and speed, such as desktop PCs, gaming consoles, and Smart TVs.
The LAN/WAN port can be used for two purposes:
- As an additional LAN port for wired devices.
- To connect to an existing fixed-line modem/router, serving as a backup internet connection in case the 4G network is unavailable.

3.3 OneMesh Functionality
The Archer MR600 supports TP-Link OneMesh technology. When paired with compatible TP-Link OneMesh extenders, it creates a unified Wi-Fi network throughout your home or office. This eliminates Wi-Fi dead zones and ensures seamless roaming as you move between rooms, maintaining a single network name and password.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Antenna Management
The Archer MR600 features two removable external antennas. These antennas are crucial for optimal 4G signal reception. For best performance, ensure they are securely attached and oriented vertically. In areas with weak signal, you may consider replacing them with more powerful external antennas via the SMA ports.

4.2 Firmware Updates
Regularly check for and install firmware updates for your router. Firmware updates often include performance improvements, security patches, and new features. You can usually find firmware updates on the official TP-Link website or through the router's web management interface.
4.3 Cleaning
To maintain optimal performance, keep the router clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 No Internet Connection
- Check SIM Card: Ensure the SIM card is correctly inserted and activated with your mobile operator.
- Unlock PIN: If your SIM card has a PIN, access the router's web management interface or Tether app to unlock it.
- Signal Strength: Verify the 4G signal strength indicated by the router's LEDs. If the signal is weak, try repositioning the router or adjusting the antennas.
- APN Settings: For some mobile operators (e.g., CoopVoce), you might need to manually configure the Access Point Name (APN) settings in the router's web interface. Refer to your mobile operator's support for the correct APN details.
- Reboot: Power cycle the router by unplugging it for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.
5.2 Slow Wi-Fi Speed
- Router Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions and devices that cause interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
- Band Selection: Connect devices that require higher speeds (e.g., streaming devices, gaming consoles) to the 5GHz Wi-Fi band, while other devices can use the 2.4GHz band.
- Interference: Check for Wi-Fi interference from neighboring networks using a Wi-Fi analyzer app and switch to a less congested channel.
- Number of Devices: While MU-MIMO helps, an excessive number of devices or high-bandwidth activities can still impact performance.
5.3 Router Freezes or Loses Connection
- Reboot: If the router freezes or loses connection, manually power it off and then on again.
- Firmware Update: Ensure your router's firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes lead to instability.
- Overheating: Ensure the router is in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating, which can cause performance issues.
5.4 Factory Reset
If you encounter persistent issues, you can perform a factory reset. With the router powered on, press and hold the Reset button (located on the rear panel) for approximately 10 seconds until the LEDs flash. The router will restart with factory default settings.
