Setup

1. Setting the Time

  1. Unscrew the Crown: Gently rotate the crown counter-clockwise until it releases from its screwed-down position.
  2. Pull the Crown: Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
  3. Adjust Time: Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure AM/PM is correctly set if your watch has a 24-hour indicator.
  4. Push and Screw Down the Crown: Once the time is set, push the crown back into the first click position, then gently push and rotate it clockwise to screw it back down securely. This is crucial for maintaining water resistance.

2. Setting the Date (if applicable)

  1. Unscrew the Crown: Gently rotate the crown counter-clockwise until it releases.
  2. Pull the Crown: Pull the crown out to the first click position.
  3. Adjust Date: Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise (depending on the movement) to set the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
  4. Push and Screw Down the Crown: Push the crown back in and screw it down securely.

3. Strap Adjustment

The watch features a metal bracelet. For proper fit, it may require link removal or addition. It is recommended to have this adjustment performed by a qualified jeweler or watch technician to prevent damage to the bracelet or watch case.

Operating the Watch

1. Basic Timekeeping

Your Nautica watch is a quartz timepiece, offering accurate timekeeping. Once the time is set, it will continue to run until the battery needs replacement.

2. World Time and Alarm Functions

This watch features a world time bezel and an alarm function, indicated by specific sub-dials and city markings.

  • World Time Bezel: The outer bezel displays various city names. To use the world time function, align your current city with the current hour on the main dial. The corresponding hour for other cities can then be read directly from the bezel.
  • Alarm Sub-dial: The sub-dial labeled "ALARM" allows you to set an audible alarm. Refer to the specific instructions provided with your watch's movement for detailed steps on setting and activating the alarm using the pushers. Typically, one pusher activates/deactivates the alarm, and the other adjusts the alarm time.
  • 24-Hour Sub-dial: This sub-dial indicates the time in a 24-hour format, useful for distinguishing AM/PM.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For metal bracelets, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

2. Water Resistance

Your Nautica NAPOBP906 watch is rated for 100 meters (330 feet) water resistance. This means it is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and showering. However, it is not suitable for scuba diving or high-impact water sports.

  • Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before any contact with water.
  • Do not operate the pushers or crown while the watch is wet or submerged.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes, which can affect water resistance seals.

3. Battery Replacement

The watch requires 1 LR44 battery. When the battery runs low, the watch may stop or the second hand may skip seconds. It is highly recommended to have the battery replaced by a professional watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch not running: Check if the crown is pushed in. If the watch still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
  • Incorrect time/date: Refer to the "Setup" section to reset the time and date. Ensure the crown is fully screwed down after adjustment.
  • Condensation inside the crystal: This indicates a loss of water resistance. Immediately take the watch to a professional for inspection and repair to prevent further damage.
