5. Operation: Remapping Back Buttons

The eXtremeRate Dawn Remap Kit allows you to program the four back buttons (K1, K2, K3, K4) to mimic other controller inputs, providing quick access to frequently used actions.

A maximum of 15 buttons can be assigned to the back buttons. These include:

  • X, O, Triangle, Square
  • Up, Down, Left, Right (D-pad)
  • L1, L2, R1, R2
  • L3, R3 (Left and Right Stick Clicks)
  • Touchpad Button

5.2. Remapping Procedure

The kit offers two methods for entering remapping mode:

  1. Touch Sensor Activation: The kit includes a touch-sensitive area. Touching this area will activate remapping mode.
  2. Button Combination: Alternatively, you can enter remapping mode by holding down the L1, R1, D-pad Down, and X buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. This method is useful if you prefer not to use the touch sensor or if it is accidentally triggered.

Once in remapping mode, an indicator light will illuminate (typically blue). Press the back button you wish to program (K1, K2, K3, or K4), then press the standard controller button you want to assign to it. The indicator light will change (e.g., to red) to confirm the assignment. Exit remapping mode by repeating the activation step.

6. Maintenance

Proper care and cleaning will extend the lifespan of your eXtremeRate Dawn Remap Kit and controller.

6.1. Cleaning Plastic Components

It is recommended to clean plastic products with a wipe dampened with water. If alcohol is used, clean it with a wipe dampened with less than 70% alcohol and place it in a ventilated place to dry in time. Do not spray water or alcohol directly on the product surface. Do not use any other organic solvents for cleaning.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your eXtremeRate Dawn Remap Kit, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Buttons Not Responding: Ensure all ribbon cable connections are secure and properly seated. Recheck the installation video for correct component placement.
  • Accidental Remapping: If the touch sensor is too sensitive or triggers unintentionally, consider disabling it by removing the touch foil during installation, or rely solely on the button combination for remapping.
  • Controller Not Closing Properly: Verify that all internal components, especially the remap board and battery, are correctly aligned and not obstructing the shell. Avoid forcing the shell closed; gently adjust components until it fits.
  • Double Input or Faulty Buttons: This may indicate a defective component. Contact eXtremeRate customer support for assistance or replacement parts.
  • L3/R3 Remapping Issues: If you opted for soldering L3/R3 and experience problems, double-check your solder points for clean and secure connections.
