Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the glass carafe, lid, and reusable coffee filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee machine with a damp cloth.
- Placement: Place the coffee machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from water sources and heat.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions
1. Preparing to Brew
- Add Water: Open the top lid of the coffee machine. Fill the glass carafe with the desired amount of fresh, cold water (up to 10 cups maximum). Pour the water into the water reservoir located under the lid. The water level indicator on the side of the machine will show the current water level.
- Insert Filter: Place the reusable coffee filter into the filter basket. If using paper filters, insert a #4 cone-shaped paper filter into the reusable filter.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Add your preferred amount of ground coffee to the filter. For a standard brew, approximately one tablespoon of coffee per cup is recommended, but adjust to your taste.
- Close Lid: Close the top lid securely. Ensure the glass carafe is properly placed on the warming plate.

2. Brewing Coffee
- Start Brewing: Press the power button (usually indicated by a circle with a vertical line) on the control panel. The machine will begin the brewing cycle.
- Aroma Intensity: To adjust coffee strength, select between 'Delicate' (default) or 'Intense' aroma settings using the dedicated button.
- 1-4 Cup Function: For smaller quantities, activate the 1-4 cup function to optimize brewing for fewer servings.
- Auto-Start Feature: Use the digital LED control panel to program a specific time for the machine to automatically start brewing.
- Keep Warm Function: After brewing, the machine automatically keeps the coffee warm for up to 60 minutes on the heated plate.
- Silent Mode: The machine offers a silent mode option to turn off audible alerts for a quieter brewing experience.

Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your coffee machine.
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, discard used coffee grounds and rinse the reusable filter and carafe. The glass carafe can be washed with hot, soapy water or placed on the top rack of a dishwasher (ensure the lid is removed).
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up. Descale your coffee machine regularly according to the instructions provided in the full product manual or as recommended by Smeg. This typically involves using a descaling solution and running a brew cycle without coffee.

Troubleshooting
