This manual provides detailed instructions for the AT&T CL82557 DECT 6.0 5-Handset Cordless Phone System. This system is designed for home use, offering features such as a digital answering machine, smart call blocker, caller ID announcement, intercom, and extended range. Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each handset.
- Connect the rechargeable battery pack plug into the jack inside the compartment.
- Place the battery pack with the label UP and tuck the wires neatly inside the compartment.
- Slide the battery compartment cover back into place until it clicks.
2. Base Unit Connection
- Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE jack on the back of the phone base.
- Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into a telephone wall jack.
- Plug the small end of the power adapter into the POWER jack on the back of the phone base.
- Plug the large end of the power adapter into an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall switch.
3. Handset Charging
- Place each handset into its respective charging cradle.
- Ensure the "CHARGE" indicator light on the handset illuminates, confirming proper connection.
- Allow handsets to charge for at least 16 hours before initial use.

Operating Your Phone System
Making and Receiving Calls
- To make a call: Press PHONE, then dial the number.
- To answer a call: Press PHONE when the phone rings.
- To end a call: Press OFF/CANCEL.
Handset Speakerphone
The cordless handsets feature a simulated full-duplex speakerphone, allowing both parties to speak and be heard simultaneously for more natural conversations. To activate the speakerphone during a call, press the SPEAKER button.

Intercom
Use the intercom feature to communicate between handsets or between a handset and the base unit. This is useful for quickly contacting family members in different rooms.
- To initiate an intercom call: Press INT on the handset, then dial the number of the target handset (1-5) or '0' for the base unit.
- To answer an intercom call: Press PHONE.
Caller ID Announce
The system announces the name of the caller, allowing you to screen calls without needing to look at the display. This feature helps you decide whether to answer or block a call.

Smart Call Blocker
The Smart Call Blocker automatically blocks robocalls from ringing through, even on the first attempt. You can also permanently blacklist any number with a single touch. The call block directory can store up to 1,000 name and number entries.
- To block a number during a call: Press the CALL BLOCK button.
- To manage blocked numbers: Access the Smart Call Blocker menu through the handset or base unit settings.

Digital Answering System
The integrated digital answering machine records up to 22 minutes of messages, announcements, and memos. A voice guide assists with setup.
- To play messages: Press PLAY/STOP on the base unit or access the answering system menu on a handset.
- To record an outgoing announcement: Follow the voice guide prompts or refer to the full user manual.

Quiet Mode
Activate Quiet Mode to silence all handset and base ringers for a set period. This is useful for uninterrupted rest or quiet environments.
- To activate/deactivate: Press and hold the #QUIET button on a handset.

Expandability
The system is expandable up to 12 handsets. You can easily add accessory handsets (models CL80107 or CL80067) to cover more areas of your home.

Battery Care
- Always use the provided rechargeable batteries.
- For optimal performance, ensure handsets are placed in their chargers when not in use.

- Avoid using cleaning sprays or harsh chemicals.
Troubleshooting

| Poor sound quality / Static | Move the handset closer to the base. Avoid placing the base near other electronic devices (e.g., microwaves, computers) that may cause interference. |
| Robocalls still ringing through | Ensure Smart Call Blocker is activated and configured correctly. Add unwanted numbers to the block list. |
