2. Software Installation and Configuration
- Insert the provided CD Driver Disk into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the necessary drivers and utility software.
- The utility software is typically used to discover the print server on the network and configure its IP address. If the software causes conflicts with other printer drivers, it may be necessary to manually configure the print server's IP address and then set up TCP/IP ports on your printer drivers. Basic knowledge of IP addresses and network hardware configuration is beneficial for this process.
- For detailed printer compatibility information, refer to the PDF Compatibility Guide available in the product documentation.
Operating the Print Server
Once the XM-PS110P is physically connected and configured on your network, your parallel port printer becomes accessible to all connected devices. The print server supports multiple protocols and operating systems, allowing for integration into various network environments.
To print, simply add the network printer on your computer using the IP address assigned to the XM-PS110P. Refer to your operating system's documentation for instructions on adding a network printer.
Maintenance
The XM-PS110P is designed for low maintenance. Keep the device in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent overheating.
The print server supports Power On Self Test (POST) and E-mail Alert features. These functions can assist in identifying potential printing problems early, allowing for prompt resolution.
Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the AC adapter is securely connected to both the print server and a working power outlet. Check the power outlet with another device.
- No Network Connection: Verify that the Ethernet cable is properly connected to the print server and the network device (router/switch). Check the network status LEDs on the print server and your network device.
- Printer Not Responding: Confirm the printer is powered on and properly connected to the print server. Check the printer's own status indicators.
- Software Conflicts: If the provided utility software causes issues, consider manually configuring the print server's IP address and setting up TCP/IP ports directly in your printer drivers.
- Printing Errors: Utilize the POST and E-mail Alert features for diagnostics. Consult the detailed user guide on the CD for specific error codes or messages.
- Intermittent Connectivity: Ensure the Ethernet cable is not damaged and connections are secure. Check for network congestion or issues with your router/switch.
