Figure 6: Voltage Switch Settings. This diagram illustrates the two switch positions on the bottom of the converter, indicating which setting to use for converting 110V to 220V (for use in 110V regions with 220V appliances) and 220V to 110V (for use in 220V regions with 110V appliances), with examples of countries for each setting.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Determine Appliance Voltage: Identify the voltage requirement of the appliance you intend to use with the converter (e.g., 110V or 220V). This information is usually found on the appliance's label or in its manual.
  2. Determine Wall Outlet Voltage: Identify the voltage of the wall outlet you will be plugging the converter into (e.g., 110V or 220V).
  3. Set Converter Switch: Based on the above, set the voltage selector switch on the bottom of the SW-S15 converter to the correct position (refer to Section 4.2).
  4. Connect Appliance: Plug your appliance into the universal AC output socket on the front of the SW-S15 converter.
  5. Connect to Power: Plug the SW-S15 converter's power cord into the wall outlet.
  6. Verify Indicator: The corresponding indicator light on the front of the converter (red for 110V input/220V output, green for 220V input/110V output) should illuminate, indicating proper operation.
  7. Power On Appliance: Turn on your appliance.
  8. Disconnect: When finished, turn off your appliance, then unplug the converter from the wall outlet, and finally unplug the appliance from the converter.

The SW-S15 is suitable for a variety of small household appliances. Examples include:

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Converter not powering on / Indicator light off
  • No power from wall outlet.
  • Loose connection.
  • Converter or cord damage.
  • Check if the wall outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
  • Ensure the converter's plug is fully inserted into the wall outlet.
  • Inspect the converter and cord for visible damage. Do not use if damaged.
Appliance not working
  • Incorrect voltage switch setting.
  • Appliance not properly plugged into converter.
  • Appliance power rating exceeds converter's capacity.
  • Appliance malfunction.
  • Verify the voltage selector switch on the bottom of the converter is set correctly for your input and output needs (refer to Section 4.2).
  • Ensure the appliance's plug is fully inserted into the converter's output socket.
  • Check the appliance's wattage. Ensure it is within the 500W limit (preferably 380W for continuous use).
