5. Installation Instructions
The APS iBoard running boards utilize a rocker panel mount system, which requires drilling into the vehicle's rocker panel. Follow these steps carefully.
- Prepare the Vehicle: Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface. Engage the parking brake. For easier access, you may lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
- Identify Mounting Locations: Locate the pre-drilled holes or designated mounting points on the vehicle's rocker panel. These are typically found along the underside of the vehicle, beneath the doors. Refer to your vehicle's specific service manual if unsure.
- Position Brackets: Hold the mounting brackets up to the identified locations. Ensure they align correctly with the rocker panel and the running board attachment points. Mark the drilling locations precisely using a marker or center punch.
- Drill Holes: Using the appropriate drill bit size (refer to hardware instructions for exact size), carefully drill pilot holes at the marked locations. Gradually increase drill bit size if necessary. Apply rust-preventative paint to all drilled holes to prevent corrosion.
- Attach Brackets: Secure the mounting brackets to the vehicle's rocker panel using the provided hardware. Hand-tighten all bolts initially to allow for adjustment.
- Mount Running Boards: Carefully position one running board onto the installed brackets. Align the slots on the running board with the attachment points on the brackets.
- Secure Running Boards: Attach the running board to the brackets using the remaining hardware. Again, hand-tighten all fasteners.
- Adjust and Tighten: Adjust the running board's position to ensure it is level and properly spaced from the vehicle body. Once satisfied with the alignment, fully tighten all bolts on both the brackets and the running boards. Refer to the hardware specifications for recommended torque values.
- Repeat for Other Side: Follow the same steps for installing the running board on the opposite side of the vehicle.
- Final Inspection: Double-check all fasteners for tightness. Ensure the running boards are secure and do not wobble.

6. Operating Your Running Boards
The APS iBoard running boards are designed for straightforward use. Simply step onto the board when entering or exiting your vehicle. The 6-inch wide surface provides a comfortable and secure stepping area.
- Always step onto the center of the running board for optimal stability.
- Avoid placing excessive weight on the edges of the board.
- Be mindful of wet or icy conditions, as the non-slip step pad, while effective, may have reduced grip in extreme weather.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and continued performance of your running boards.
- Cleaning: Clean the running boards regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the matte black powder coating or the non-slip step pad. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all mounting hardware (bolts, nuts, brackets) for tightness. Re-tighten any loose fasteners to prevent rattling or instability.
- Damage Check: Check the running boards for any signs of damage, such as bends, cracks, or excessive wear on the step pad. Replace damaged components if necessary.

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your running boards, refer to the following common problems and solutions.
- Running Board is Loose/Wobbly:
Solution: Inspect all mounting bolts and nuts. Re-tighten any loose fasteners. Ensure brackets are securely attached to the vehicle's rocker panel. - Unusual Noise (Rattling/Squeaking):
Solution: Check all contact points between the running board, brackets, and vehicle. Ensure no components are rubbing. Re-tighten all hardware. Apply a small amount of silicone grease to contact points if squeaking persists. - Difficulty Stepping On/Off:
Solution: Verify the running board is installed at the correct height and distance from the vehicle. While adjustments are limited by the mounting points, ensure no obstructions are present. - Corrosion/Rust Spots:
Solution: Although made from aluminum with a powder coating, minor surface imperfections can occur. Clean affected areas thoroughly and apply a touch-up paint designed for powder-coated aluminum if necessary.
