4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the controller.

4.2. Connecting to the Irrigation System
- Identify the solenoid valve you wish to control. The SOLEM controller is designed for a single 9V latching solenoid valve.
- Connect the two wires from the controller to the two wires of the solenoid valve. Polarity is generally not critical for latching solenoids, but refer to your solenoid's manual if unsure.
- Ensure all connections are secure and waterproof, especially if installed outdoors.

4.3. Mobile Application Installation and Pairing
- Download the "SOLEM Water" application from your device's app store (available for iOS and Android).
- Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone or tablet.
- Open the SOLEM Water app. The app will automatically search for nearby SOLEM controllers.
- Select your controller from the list of discovered devices. The controller's unique ID is usually printed on a label on the device.
- Follow the on-screen prompts in the app to complete the pairing process.

5. Operating the Controller
5.1. Creating Irrigation Programs
- Open the SOLEM Water app and connect to your controller.
- Navigate to the "Programs" or "Schedules" section.
- Tap to add a new program.
- Set the start time, duration, and days of the week for the irrigation cycle.
- Save the program. You can create multiple programs for different needs.
5.2. Manual Operation
You can manually start or stop irrigation directly from the app:
- In the app, go to the "Manual" or "Instant" control section.
- Select the desired duration for manual watering.
- Tap "Start" to begin irrigation immediately or "Stop" to end it.
5.3. Pausing and Disabling Programs
Programs can be temporarily paused or permanently disabled through the app's program management section. This is useful for rain delays or seasonal changes.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
Replace the 9V alkaline battery annually or when the low battery indicator appears in the SOLEM Water app. Follow the steps in Section 4.1 for battery installation.
6.2. Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the controller with a damp cloth as needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the battery compartment seal is free of debris.
6.3. Winterization
In regions with freezing temperatures, it is recommended to remove the controller from the irrigation system and store it indoors during winter months. Remove the battery before storage to prevent leakage.
