Setup

  1. Unpack the Keyboard: Carefully remove the keyboard and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Attach the Palm Rest: Align the detachable palm rest with the bottom edge of the keyboard. The magnetic connection will secure it in place.

RGB Backlighting Control

The K588 features customizable RGB backlighting with multiple modes and colors. Use the function keys (Fn) in combination with other keys to adjust lighting effects directly on the keyboard.

  • Changing Modes: Press Fn + Insert/Home/PgUp/Del/End/PgDn to cycle through various preset lighting effects.
  • Adjusting Brightness: Press Fn + Up Arrow to increase brightness and Fn + Down Arrow to decrease brightness.
  • Adjusting Speed: Press Fn + Left Arrow to slow down the effect speed and Fn + Right Arrow to speed up the effect.

Macro Key Programming

The K588 includes dedicated G1-G5 macro keys on the left side and additional programmable keys (G6-G9) at the top. Macros can be recorded on-the-fly or programmed using the software.

On-the-Fly Macro Recording:

  1. Press the REC key (located above F9-F12). The REC indicator will light up.
  2. Press the desired macro key (G1-G9) you wish to program. The REC indicator will flash.
  3. Type the sequence of keys you want to record.
  4. Press the REC key again to save the macro. The REC indicator will turn off.

To use the recorded macro, simply press the assigned macro key (G1-G9).

Media Keys and Volume Control

The keyboard features dedicated media control keys and a volume control wheel for convenient audio management.

  • Volume Wheel: Rotate the wheel up to increase volume, down to decrease volume. Press the wheel to mute/unmute audio.
  • Media Control Keys: Dedicated keys for Play/Pause, Stop, Previous Track, and Next Track are located above the number pad.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Keyboard

  • Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the surface of the keyboard and keycaps.
  • For dust and debris between keys, use compressed air.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasives, or solvents.

Keycap Removal and Switch Replacement

The K588 features replaceable mechanical switches. If a switch needs to be replaced, use the included keycap puller and switch puller tools.

  1. Gently pull the keycap straight up using the keycap puller.
  2. Using the switch puller, carefully grip the tabs on the top and bottom of the switch and pull it straight out.
  3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press firmly until it clicks into place.
  4. Re-attach the keycap.

Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard Not Responding:
    • Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer.
    • Try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port on your computer.
    • Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out a system-specific issue.
  • RGB Backlighting Not Working/Incorrect:
    • Check if the brightness is turned down (Fn + Down Arrow).
    • Ensure no specific lighting profile is active that might override general settings.
    • If using software, ensure it is running and correctly configured.
    • Try resetting the keyboard to factory defaults (refer to software or advanced key combinations if available).
  • Macro Keys Not Functioning:
    • Verify that macros have been recorded correctly.
    • If using software, ensure the correct profile is active and macros are saved.
    • Some applications may interfere with macro execution. Test in a different application.
