4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Pre-Installation Checklist

4.2 Mounting the Camera

  1. Choose a suitable ceiling or wall location for mounting. Ensure the surface is strong enough to support the camera.
  2. Use the camera base as a template to mark the drilling points for the mounting screws.
  3. Drill pilot holes and insert the wall plugs if mounting into drywall or masonry.
  4. Secure the camera base to the mounting surface using the provided screws.
  5. Important: Do not remove the protective layer on the camera dome until installation is complete to prevent scratches or dust accumulation.
  6. Placement Tip: Avoid installing the camera too close to a wall or large object, as this can reflect infrared light and negatively impact night vision clarity.

4.3 Connecting the Camera

Connect the camera to your DVR system as follows:

  1. Connect the camera's BNC video output cable to a video input port on your DVR.
  2. Connect the DC 12V power adapter (not included) to the camera's power input port.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on the DVR and camera.

4.4 Initial Configuration: Changing Video Output Mode

The camera's default video mode is Analog (CVBS 960H), which provides a lower resolution (1200TVL). To achieve the full 5MP High Definition resolution, you must change the camera's working mode to match your DVR's input type (TVI, AHD, or CVI). This is done using the joystick cable integrated with the camera's video output cable.

  1. Connect the camera to your DVR and monitor.
  2. Locate the small joystick on the camera's cable.
  3. To access the OSD (On-Screen Display) menu: Press the middle of the joystick.
  4. Navigate the menu using the joystick (up, down, left, right) to find "VIDEO OUTPUT".
  5. Select the appropriate video standard (TVI, AHD, CVI, or CVBS) and resolution (e.g., 5MP 20fps for TVI/AHD, 4MP 30fps for CVI). Note: CVI does not support 5MP.
  6. Select "REBOOT & APPLY" to save changes and restart the camera.
  7. If the camera screen goes black (no signal/no image) after changing modes, press the joystick to the UP direction for approximately 10 seconds to revert to the default Analog working mode.
