Maintenance
System Updates
Regularly check for and install Windows 10 Home updates to ensure system security, stability, and performance. Access updates through the Windows Settings menu (Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update).
Cleaning Your Desktop
Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the exterior of the desktop. For vents and internal components, use compressed air to remove dust buildup, ensuring proper airflow and preventing overheating. Always power off and unplug the desktop before cleaning.
Storage and Memory Management
The 512GB SSD provides fast storage for your operating system and applications. Monitor your storage usage through File Explorer and consider external storage solutions for large files or backups. The 12GB DDR4 RAM is suitable for most multitasking needs. For advanced users, memory upgrades may be possible; consult a qualified technician or the Acer support website for compatible upgrade options.
Troubleshooting
No Display on Monitor
- Ensure all video cables (HDMI, VGA) are securely connected to both the desktop and the monitor.
- Verify the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source (e.g., HDMI 1, VGA).
- Try connecting the monitor to a different video port on the desktop if available.
Network Connectivity Issues
- For Wi-Fi, check your router and ensure the desktop is within range. Restarting your router can often resolve connection issues.
- For wired connections, verify the Ethernet cable is properly connected to both the desktop and your router/modem. Check the network status in Windows Settings.
System Slowdown
- Close unnecessary applications running in the background.
- Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for processes consuming high CPU, memory, or disk resources.
- Ensure your Windows operating system and drivers are up to date.
- Run a disk cleanup and defragmentation (for HDD, not SSD) or optimize drives (for SSD) to improve performance.
