5. Setup
5.1. Battery Installation
- Main Unit: Open the battery compartment on the back. Insert 3 x 1.5V AAA batteries (not included), observing the correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
- Outdoor Sensor: Open the battery compartment. Insert 2 x 1.5V AA batteries (not included), observing the correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
5.2. Powering the Main Unit
Connect the provided DC 4.5V/150mA power adapter to the main unit's power input and then plug it into a wall outlet. The display will illuminate.
5.3. Sensor Placement and Synchronization
Place the outdoor sensor in a shaded, dry location away from direct sunlight and rain, ensuring it is within 30 meters (open area) of the main unit. The main unit will automatically attempt to synchronize with the sensor. This may take a few minutes. Once connected, the outdoor temperature and humidity will appear on the display.
5.4. Mounting Options
- Tabletop: Use the integrated stand on the back of the main unit to place it on a flat surface.
- Wall Mount: Use the hanging hole on the back of the main unit to mount it on a wall using a screw (not included).
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Display Information
The color LCD display shows the following information:
- Weather forecast icons (sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rain)
- Indoor temperature and humidity
- Outdoor temperature and humidity
- Digital time (12/24 hour format)
- Date and day of the week
6.2. Time and Date Settings
The weather station automatically receives the DCF77 radio signal for accurate time and date synchronization. If the signal is not available or you prefer manual setting:
- Press and hold the SET button (location may vary, refer to device markings) to enter manual time/date setting mode.
- Use the UP/DOWN buttons to adjust values.
- Press SET again to confirm and move to the next setting (e.g., hour, minute, year, month, day, 12/24 hour format).
6.3. Temperature Unit Selection
Press the °C/°F button (location may vary) to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature display.
6.4. Managing Additional Sensors
The SWS 4250 supports up to three outdoor sensors. To add additional sensors (purchased separately):
- Install batteries in the new sensor.
- On the main unit, press the CHANNEL button to cycle through available sensor channels.
- The main unit will automatically search for and connect to new sensors on an unused channel.
7. Maintenance
7.1. Cleaning
Wipe the main unit and sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the display or casing.
7.2. Battery Replacement
Replace batteries in both the main unit and the sensor when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always replace all batteries in a set with new ones of the same type.
7.3. Storage
If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove all batteries to prevent leakage and store the unit in a cool, dry place.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display on main unit | Batteries are dead or incorrectly inserted; power adapter not connected. | Check battery polarity and charge; ensure power adapter is securely connected. |
| Outdoor temperature/humidity not displayed | Sensor batteries dead; sensor out of range; interference; sensor not synchronized. | Replace sensor batteries; move sensor closer to main unit; resynchronize sensor (remove and reinsert batteries in sensor, then main unit). |
| Incorrect time/date | DCF77 signal weak or unavailable; manual settings incorrect. | Move main unit to a location with better signal reception; set time/date manually. |
| Weather forecast inaccurate | The forecast is based on atmospheric pressure changes and may not always match local conditions perfectly. | This is normal. The forecast is an estimation. |
