Setup (Installation)
This receptacle is designed for flush mounting. Follow these steps for proper installation:
- Prepare the Location: Ensure you have a suitable electrical box (e.g., 4x4 square box with a 2-gang mud ring or a single-gang box with appropriate adapter) that can accommodate the receptacle and wiring.
- Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker for the circuit you will be working on and switch it to the OFF position. Verify with a voltage tester that no power is present at the wires.
- Strip Wires: Carefully strip approximately 3/4 inch (19mm) of insulation from the ends of the supply wires. For 14-50R, you will typically have two hot wires (black/red), one neutral wire (white), and one ground wire (green/bare copper).
- Connect Wires: The Bryant 9450FR features clearly marked terminals.
- Connect the GREEN or bare copper ground wire to the terminal marked "GREEN" (grounding screw).
- Connect the WHITE neutral wire to the terminal marked "WHITE" (neutral screw).
- Connect the two HOT wires (black and red) to the remaining two terminals marked "XXX" (line screws).

- Secure Connections: Tighten all terminal screws firmly to ensure good electrical contact. Tug gently on each wire to confirm it is securely fastened.
- Mount Receptacle: Carefully fold the wires into the electrical box. Align the receptacle with the mounting holes in the electrical box and secure it using the provided mounting screws. Do not overtighten.
- Install Faceplate (Not Included): Once the receptacle is securely mounted, install a compatible NEMA 14-50 faceplate (sold separately) over the receptacle.
