- Pairing with Govee H5040 Gateway (Optional):
For remote monitoring and app notifications, pair the detectors with a Govee H5040 gateway (sold separately). Refer to the gateway's instruction manual for specific pairing steps. Once paired, you can monitor the detectors via the Govee Home app on your smartphone.
Operating Instructions
- Water Detection:
When the sensor probes detect water, the detector will emit a loud audible alarm (up to 100 dB) and flash a red light. This immediate alert helps you quickly identify and address the leak.

If paired with the Govee H5040 gateway, you will receive instant notifications on your smartphone via the Govee Home app when a leak is detected, even when you are away from home.
Maintenance
- Battery Replacement:
When the battery is low, the detector will beep and flash a red light. Replace the 2 AAA alkaline batteries promptly to ensure continuous protection. To check the battery level, press the button on the detector.
- Cleaning:
After a leak event, clean and dry the sensor probes thoroughly to prevent false alarms and ensure proper function. Use a soft, dry cloth.
- Regular Testing:
It is recommended to periodically test your detectors by placing them on a damp cloth to ensure they are functioning correctly.
Troubleshooting
- Detector Not Alarming:
Check battery level. Ensure sensor probes are clean and making proper contact with water. If using with a gateway, verify the gateway is online and the detector is paired.
- False Alarms:
Ensure the sensor probes are completely dry. Avoid placing the detector in areas with high humidity that might trigger it without an actual leak.
- App Not Receiving Notifications (with Gateway):
Verify the Govee H5040 gateway is connected to Wi-Fi and powered on. Check your phone's notification settings for the Govee Home app. Ensure the detector is within range of the gateway.
- Battery Status Not Updating in App (with Gateway):
Some users have reported delays in battery status updates. If a sensor is removed or its batteries die, the app might not immediately reflect this. Periodically check the physical detector's battery status by pressing its button.
