1. Product Overview
The Dräger X-plore OV/P100 Combination Cartridges are designed to provide respiratory protection against a range of airborne contaminants. These cartridges are NIOSH-approved and are intended for use with compatible Dräger X-plore series respirator masks.
1.1 Key Features
- Respiratory Protection: Combination filters protecting against Organic Vapors (OV), Oil Particulates, and Solid Particulates (P100).
- Bayonet Connection: Features a twin filter system with a bayonet-type connection for easy and secure assembly, allowing for an excellent field of vision.
- NIOSH-Approved: Certified for reliable performance.

1.2 How it Works
These combination cartridges utilize both a gas filter (activated carbon) and a particle filter within a plastic housing to effectively remove contaminants from inhaled air. The OV component targets organic vapors, while the P100 component filters at least 99.97% of airborne particles, including oil-based particulates.

2. Safety Information
WARNING: Always read and understand the complete instruction manual for both the cartridges and the respirator mask before use. Failure to follow all instructions and warnings could result in serious injury or death.
- Do not use in atmospheres containing less than 19.5% oxygen.
- Do not use when concentrations of contaminants are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH).
- Do not use for escape from hazardous atmospheres.
- Leave the contaminated area immediately if you smell or taste contaminants, or if dizziness, irritation, or other distress occurs.
- Replace cartridges according to the manufacturer's recommendations or local regulations, whichever is sooner.
- Consult a safety professional to determine appropriate respiratory protection for your specific application.
3. Compatibility
The Dräger X-plore OV/P100 Combination Cartridges are designed for use exclusively with the following Dräger X-plore series respirator masks:
- Dräger X-plore 5500 Full-Face Respirator Mask (sold separately)

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Intended Use and Application Areas
These cartridges are suitable for use in environments where protection against organic vapors, oil, and solid particulates is required. Typical application areas include:
- Painting, varnishing, and cleaning operations involving organic-based chemicals.
- Preparation work with liquid or solid particles.
- Agricultural applications involving fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, and certain fumigants.
- Maintenance work, welding, and handling moldy hay or grain.

6. Maintenance & Storage
6.1 Cartridge Replacement
Replace cartridges when:
- You detect the smell, taste, or irritation from contaminants.
- Breathing resistance becomes noticeably high.
- The service life indicated by the manufacturer or local regulations is reached.
- The cartridges are damaged.
Always replace both cartridges simultaneously. Dispose of used cartridges according to local regulations for hazardous waste.
6.2 Cleaning and Storage
The cartridges themselves are not designed for cleaning. For cleaning the respirator mask, remove the cartridges first. Store unused cartridges in their original sealed packaging in a cool, dry place away from contaminants and direct sunlight. Ensure the storage area is free from extreme temperatures and humidity.
7. Troubleshooting
- Problem: Detection of contaminant smell/taste or irritation.
Solution: Immediately leave the contaminated area. Check mask fit and cartridge installation. If the problem persists, replace both cartridges. - Problem: Increased breathing resistance.
Solution: This may indicate that the particle filter is clogged. Replace both cartridges. - Problem: Cartridges do not attach securely.
Solution: Ensure correct alignment of the bayonet connection. Check for any obstructions or damage to the mask's attachment points or the cartridges.
