1. Introduction

The Mindscope DigiSafe Password Vault is a dedicated, offline device designed for secure storage of your personal login and password information. This unit operates independently, without any internet connection, providing an isolated environment for your digital credentials. Its internal memory is non-removable, ensuring data remains within the device. The easy-to-read LCD screen and large font size facilitate convenient data entry and retrieval.

2. Safety Information

  • Battery Requirements: The unit requires 3 x AAA batteries (not included). Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.
  • Battery Safety: Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, moisture, or corrosive substances.
  • Physical Handling: Do not drop, disassemble, or attempt to repair the device yourself. Unauthorized repairs will void the warranty.
  • Children: Keep the device out of reach of small children to prevent accidental ingestion of small parts or batteries.

4. Device Overview

Familiarize yourself with the main components of your DigiSafe Password Vault:

  • LCD Screen: Displays information, menus, and data entries. Features a backlight for easy viewing.
  • Alphanumeric Keypad: Used for entering characters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Navigation Buttons (OK, Arrows): For menu navigation and selection.
  • Power Button: To turn the device on or off.
  • Shift/Caps Keys: To switch between character cases and access special characters.
  • Reset Button: (Small, recessed button) Used for factory reset (caution: this will erase all data).

5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 3 x AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2. Initial Power-On and Master PIN Setup

  1. Press and hold the Power button to turn on the device.
  2. Upon first use, the device will prompt you to set a Master PIN. This PIN is crucial for accessing your stored passwords.
  3. Enter your desired Master PIN using the numerical keys. Important: Only numerical digits (0-9) can be used for the Master PIN. The PIN length is typically 4-16 digits.
  4. Press OK to confirm.
  5. Re-enter the Master PIN to verify.
  6. Press OK again. The device will confirm successful PIN setup.
  7. WARNING: Remember your Master PIN. There is no recovery method if you forget it, and all stored data will become permanently inaccessible.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Powering On/Off

  • To turn on: Press and hold the Power button.
  • To turn off: Press and hold the Power button until the screen indicates power off. The device will also automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.

6.2. Navigating the Menu

Use the arrow keys to move between options on the screen and the OK button to select an option or confirm an action.

6.3. Adding a New Entry

The DigiSafe Vault can store up to 400 login/password entries, each including a User ID, Password, Website, and Notes.

  1. From the main menu, select "Add New" or similar option.
  2. The device will prompt you to enter information for each field:
    • Site: Enter the website or service name (e.g., "Amazon", "Bank Login").
    • ID: Enter your User ID or Username.
    • PW: Enter your Password.
    • Notes: (Optional) Add any relevant notes, such as security questions or additional details. Each line can accommodate a maximum length of 39 characters, split at 20 characters on the screen. The notes section provides 54 character spaces.
  3. Use the alphanumeric keypad to enter characters.
  4. Use the Shift key to access secondary characters on keys or switch between lowercase and uppercase letters.
  5. Use the Caps key to toggle Caps Lock on/off.
  6. Available special characters include: ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) . : / - _ ? + = < > ~
  7. After entering each field, press OK to proceed to the next field.
  8. Once all fields are entered, confirm to save the entry.

6.4. Viewing and Editing Entries

  1. From the main menu, select "View/Edit" or "Search".
  2. Use the arrow keys to scroll through your stored entries or enter keywords to search.
  3. Select the desired entry and press OK to view its details.
  4. To edit, select the "Edit" option while viewing an entry. Navigate to the field you wish to change, make your edits, and press OK to save.

6.5. Auto-Lock Feature

For enhanced security, the device features an auto-lock mechanism. If 5 incorrect Master PIN inputs are detected consecutively, the device will temporarily lock, preventing further attempts for a short period. Wait for the lockout period to expire before attempting to enter your PIN again.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Battery Replacement: When the battery indicator appears low, replace all 3 AAA batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation and data integrity. Stored data remains intact even if batteries drain completely.
  • Data Backup: The DigiSafe Password Vault stores data on internal, non-removable memory. There is no external backup or data transfer function. Regularly verify your entries for accuracy.

8. Troubleshooting
