Setup and Installation
Important Safety Information: Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician or a knowledgeable individual familiar with electrical wiring. Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work to prevent electric shock.
Wiring Requirements:
- Neutral Wire: A neutral wire is required for the operation of this switch. This is typically found in newer homes.
- Voltage: 120VAC.
- Maximum Fan Load: 3A.
- Single-Pole Use Only: This switch is designed for single-pole applications.
Installation Steps:
- Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the fan circuit and turn it OFF. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
- Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the existing wall plate and switch from the electrical box.
- Identify Wires: Identify the Line (hot), Load (to fan), Neutral, and Ground wires. The TDHS5 requires a neutral wire.
- Wire the Switch: Connect the wires to the TDHS5 switch terminals according to the wiring diagram provided with the product packaging. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Mount the Switch: Gently push the wired switch into the electrical box and secure it with screws.
- Install Wall Plate: Attach the new wall plate.
