- Subtraction: 10 - 4 = (Result: 6)
- Multiplication: 7 × 2 = (Result: 14)
- Division: 15 ÷ 3 = (Result: 5)
2.2 Scientific Functions
The EL-W531TL offers over 420 scientific functions. Many functions are accessed by pressing the 2nd F key followed by the desired function key.
- Trigonometric Functions: Use sin, cos, tan keys. For inverse functions, press 2nd F then the respective key (e.g., 2nd F sin for sin-1).
- Logarithms: Use log (base 10) and ln (natural logarithm) keys.
- Powers and Roots: Use x² for squaring, √ for square root. For other powers, use yx.
- Fractions: Use the a b/c key to enter and calculate fractions.
2.3 Memory Functions
The calculator includes independent memory (M) and variable memories (A-F, X, Y).
- Store to Memory: Enter a value, then press STO followed by the desired memory key (e.g., STO M+ to store to M).
- Recall from Memory: Press RCL followed by the desired memory key.
- Clear Memory: Press M-CLR to clear all memories.
2.4 Mode Selection
Press the MODE key to cycle through different calculation modes (e.g., Normal, Stat, Drill). Press CA to change angle units (DEG, RAD, GRAD).

3.3 Storage
Store the calculator in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the battery to prevent leakage.
4. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Display is blank or dim. | Low or dead battery. | Replace the LR44 battery (see Section 1.1). |
| Incorrect calculation results. | Incorrect mode setting (e.g., RAD instead of DEG). | Check and adjust the angle unit (DEG/RAD/GRAD) using the CA key. Ensure correct input order. |
| "ERROR" message displayed. | Mathematical error (e.g., division by zero, invalid input). | Review your input and calculation steps. Press ON/C to clear the error. |
| Calculator is unresponsive. | Temporary system glitch. | Press the RESET button (located on the back, requires a thin object like a paperclip). This will clear all memory and settings. |
