Introduction
The XLC Telescopic Post SP-T08 is a high-quality dropper seatpost designed for bicycles, offering on-the-fly saddle height adjustment. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of your SP-T08 dropper seatpost. It features an aluminum 6061-T6 construction, an air-oil cartridge system, and a remote lever for convenient control. This seatpost is suitable for riders weighing between 50 kg and 120 kg.

Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the performance and safety of your dropper seatpost. If you are unsure about any step, consult a professional bicycle mechanic.
Components Check
Before beginning installation, ensure all components are present and undamaged:
- XLC Telescopic Post SP-T08 dropper seatpost
- Remote lever
- Inner cable and outer housing
- Cable end cap
- Barrel adjuster (for fine-tuning cable tension)

Installation Steps
- Prepare the Seat Tube: Clean the inside of your bicycle's seat tube. Apply a thin layer of grease or carbon assembly paste (if your frame is carbon) to the seatpost insertion area.
- Insert the Seatpost: Carefully slide the dropper seatpost into the bicycle's seat tube. Ensure the minimum insertion mark on the seatpost is not visible above the seat tube collar. The minimum insertion is 70 mm for 300/350 mm length posts and 90 mm for 400 mm length posts.
- Secure the Seatpost: Tighten the seatpost collar clamp bolt to the manufacturer's recommended torque specification, typically found on your bike frame or seatpost collar. A torque wrench is required for accurate tightening to prevent damage to the seatpost or frame.
- Install the Remote Lever: Mount the remote lever on your handlebars in a comfortable and accessible position. Ensure it does not interfere with braking or shifting.
- Route the Cable: Route the outer cable housing from the remote lever to the seatpost's cable attachment point. The SP-T08 uses an external cable routing system. Ensure the cable path is smooth, without sharp bends, and allows for full handlebar movement. Note that cable clamps for external routing are not included and may need to be purchased separately.
- Connect the Cable: Insert the inner cable through the remote lever and then through the outer housing. Connect the cable to the mechanism at the base of the dropper seatpost. Adjust cable tension so there is no slack but also no excessive tension that would partially actuate the post. Use the barrel adjuster on the remote lever for fine-tuning.
- Install the Saddle: Attach your bicycle saddle to the seatpost clamp. Adjust the saddle angle and fore/aft position to your preference. The saddle clamp features a patented Low Profile Head for reduced mounting height.

Operating Instructions
The XLC SP-T08 dropper seatpost allows for quick and easy saddle height adjustments while riding.
- To Lower the Saddle: While seated on the saddle, press the remote lever on your handlebars. Apply your body weight to the saddle to push it down to the desired height. Release the lever to lock the saddle in position. The seatpost offers height adjustments of 65 mm, 85 mm, or 105 mm, depending on the model length.
- To Raise the Saddle: With your body weight off the saddle, press the remote lever. The saddle will extend upwards. The speed of extension can be controlled by how lightly or firmly you press the lever. Release the lever to lock the saddle at the desired height.
The air-oil cartridge system ensures smooth and reliable operation throughout the travel range.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance will prolong the life and ensure the smooth operation of your XLC SP-T08 dropper seatpost.
- Cleaning the Stanchion: After each ride, especially in dirty or wet conditions, wipe down the exposed stanchion (the shiny upper part of the seatpost) with a clean, soft cloth. This prevents dirt and debris from entering the seals.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of suspension-specific lubricant or silicone spray to the stanchion and around the dust wiper seal. Cycle the seatpost a few times to distribute the lubricant. Wipe off any excess.
- Cable Inspection: Regularly check the remote cable and housing for fraying, kinks, or corrosion. Replace damaged cables or housing promptly to maintain smooth operation.
- Torque Check: Periodically check the torque of the seatpost collar clamp and saddle clamp bolts to ensure they are tightened to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Professional Service: For internal service or cartridge replacement, it is recommended to consult a qualified bicycle mechanic or an authorized XLC service center. The air-oil cartridge is interchangeable.
Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:
- Seatpost feels sticky or slow to return:
- Clean and lubricate the stanchion and seals (see Maintenance section).
- Check cable tension. If too tight, it may be partially actuating the post. Adjust the barrel adjuster to add a small amount of slack.
- Inspect the cable and housing for damage or excessive friction. Replace if necessary.
- Seatpost does not lock in position or sags:
- Ensure the remote lever is fully released and the cable is not under tension.
- This may indicate an issue with the internal cartridge. Professional service is recommended.
- Small amount of lateral play (side-to-side movement):
A minimal amount of lateral play is normal for most dropper seatposts and does not affect performance or safety. Excessive play, however, may indicate worn bushings and should be inspected by a professional.
