1. Product Overview

The Hikvision DS-7104HQHI-K1 is a 4-channel Turbo HD DVR designed for surveillance systems. It supports various camera types including HD-TVI, AHD, HD-CVI, CVBS, and IP cameras, offering flexibility for different setups. This DVR is capable of full channel recording at up to 4MP Lite resolution and includes features for remote surveillance via the Hik-Connect App.

  • 4-in-1 Turbo HD DVR: Supports 4-channel self-adaptive HD-TVI/AHD/HD-CVI/CVBS signal input.
  • Flexible IP Camera Input: Additional 1-channel 4MP IP camera input, totaling 5 channels (4 analog HD + 1 IP). Any of the 4 analog BNC HD video inputs can be individually converted to an IP video channel (requires a PoE switch, sold separately), allowing for up to 5 IP channels in total.
  • Storage Capacity: One SATA interface for HDD (HDD not included), supporting up to 6TB HDD capacity.

4. Setup Guide

4.1. Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Installation

The DVR requires a SATA HDD for recording. The HDD is not included and must be purchased separately. The DVR supports up to 6TB capacity.

  1. Unscrew and remove the top cover of the DVR.
  2. Connect the SATA data cable and power cable from the DVR to the HDD.
  3. Secure the HDD inside the DVR chassis using the provided screws.
  4. Replace the top cover and secure it with screws.

4.2. Connecting Cameras and Monitor

  1. Connect your HD-TVI, AHD, HD-CVI, or CVBS cameras to the "VIDEO IN" BNC ports (1) on the rear panel.
  2. For IP cameras, connect them to your network via a PoE switch (if required) and then connect the PoE switch to the DVR's "LAN Network Interface" (6).
  3. Connect a monitor to the DVR using either the "HDMI Interface" (2) or "VGA Interface" (3).
  4. If using external audio, connect audio input devices to "AUDIO IN" (5) and audio output devices (speakers) to "AUDIO OUT" (4).

4.3. Network and Power Connection

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router/network switch to the "LAN Network Interface" (6) on the DVR.
  2. Connect the 12V DC power adapter to the "12 VDC Power Input" (9) and plug it into a power outlet.
  3. The DVR will power on automatically.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Initial Setup Wizard

Upon first boot, the DVR will guide you through an initial setup wizard to configure basic settings such as language, date/time, network settings, and password creation. Follow the on-screen prompts.

5.2. Live View and Playback

  • Live View: After setup, the DVR will display the live feed from connected cameras. You can switch between single-camera view and multi-camera grid view.
  • Playback: Access the playback menu to review recorded footage. You can search by date, time, and event.

5.3. Remote Surveillance with Hik-Connect App

To access your DVR remotely, download the Hik-Connect App from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

  1. Ensure your DVR is connected to the internet.
  2. Enable Hik-Connect service on your DVR through the network settings.
  3. Open the Hik-Connect App, register an account, and add your DVR by scanning the QR code or manually entering the serial number.
  4. You can now view live feeds, play back recordings, and receive notifications from your mobile device.

6. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Keep the DVR free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior. Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Hikvision official website for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security. Follow instructions carefully when updating firmware.
  • Data Backup: Regularly back up important recordings to an external storage device (e.g., USB drive) to prevent data loss.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the DVR within the recommended temperature and humidity ranges to prolong its lifespan. Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.

7. Troubleshooting
