3. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and safety of your extractor hood. Refer to the diagrams below for precise measurements and mounting points.
3.1. Mounting Requirements
Ensure the wall is strong enough to support the weight of the hood. The minimum distance between the cooking surface and the lower part of the hood must be observed.

3.2. Electrical Connection
The appliance requires a 220V, 60Hz power supply. Ensure the electrical outlet is easily accessible after installation.

3.3. Wall Mounting
Use the provided screws and wall plugs. Mark the drilling points accurately using the template or measurements from the manual.

Note: The screws for anchoring the hood to the wall are TORX type. Ensure you have the correct screwdriver bit to avoid damaging the screw heads.
4. Operating Instructions
The Balay 3BC997GX features an intuitive touch control panel for easy operation.

4.1. Control Panel Functions:
- Power On/Off (⏱): Press to turn the hood on or off.
- Speed 1, 2, 3: Select the desired extraction speed for normal cooking.
- Intensive Speed (P): Activates the maximum extraction power for a short period, ideal for intense cooking fumes. The hood will automatically revert to a lower speed after a set time.
- Light (💡): Press to turn the LED lights on or off.
For best results, it is recommended to turn on the hood a few minutes before you start cooking and leave it on for a few minutes after you finish to ensure all odors and steam are cleared.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your extractor hood.
5.1. Cleaning the Grease Filters
The aluminum grease filters should be cleaned regularly, depending on usage, to prevent grease buildup and maintain extraction efficiency. The filters are dishwasher-safe.

- To remove the filters, push the latch on each filter and pull downwards.
- Wash the filters in a dishwasher or by hand using hot water and a mild detergent.
- Ensure filters are completely dry before re-installing.
- To re-install, align the filter with the slots and push upwards until the latch clicks into place.
5.2. Cleaning the Exterior
Clean the exterior of the hood with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner suitable for stainless steel. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive pads that could scratch the surface.
5.3. Light Bulb Replacement
The hood uses LED lighting. If replacement is necessary, contact qualified service personnel. Refer to the important information section regarding recycling and cleaning of broken bulbs.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Balay extractor hood, refer to the following common problems and solutions before contacting service.
