Operating Instructions

Brewing Coffee

  1. Fill Water Reservoir: Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the desired level indicated on the water gauge (Figure 3). Do not exceed the 'MAX 10' mark.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter (Figure 5) into the filter basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is one level tablespoon of coffee per cup, but adjust to your personal taste.
  3. Close Lid and Place Carafe: Close the top lid securely. Ensure the glass carafe (Figure 6) is correctly positioned on the warming plate.
  4. Start Brewing: Press the power button (U symbol) on the control panel (Figure 2) to start the brewing process. The indicator light will illuminate.
  5. Keep Warm Function: The coffee machine will automatically keep the coffee warm after brewing. The warming plate will remain active for a set period (e.g., 30-40 minutes) before automatically shutting off.

Using the Programmable Timer

The programmable timer allows you to set the machine to start brewing at a specific time.

  1. Set Current Time: With the machine plugged in, press the 'HR' button to set the hour and the 'MIN' button to set the minute. The display will show the current time.
  2. Program Brew Time: Prepare the coffee machine with water and coffee grounds as described in the 'Brewing Coffee' section. Press the 'PROG' button. The display will flash.
  3. Set Desired Start Time: Use the 'HR' and 'MIN' buttons to set the desired time for brewing to begin.
  4. Activate Program: Press the 'PROG' button again to confirm the programmed time. A small clock icon will appear on the display, indicating the timer is active. The machine will start brewing automatically at the set time.

Adjusting Coffee Strength

This model features pour-over technology and allows for adjustment of coffee strength. While there isn't a dedicated button for strength adjustment, you can control strength by:

  • Coffee-to-Water Ratio: Adjust the amount of coffee grounds used for a given amount of water. More coffee for stronger brew, less for milder.
  • Coffee Grind: Finer grinds generally produce stronger coffee, while coarser grinds result in a milder taste.

Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

  1. Unplug: Always unplug the coffee machine before cleaning.
  2. Discard Grounds: Remove the filter basket and reusable filter. Discard used coffee grounds.
  3. Wash Removable Parts: Wash the glass carafe, filter basket, and reusable filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are generally dishwasher safe (top rack only), but hand washing is recommended for longevity.
  4. Wipe Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Descaling

Mineral deposits from water can build up in your coffee machine over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 months).

  1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Mix a descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions, or use a solution of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Fill the water reservoir with this solution up to the 'MAX' level.
  2. Run Half Cycle: Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Turn on the coffee machine and let half of the descaling solution brew through.
  3. Soak: Turn off the machine and let it stand for at least 15-30 minutes to allow the solution to work.
  4. Complete Cycle: Turn the machine back on and let the remaining solution brew through.
  5. Rinse Cycles: After descaling, run at least two full cycles with fresh, cold water only to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
