4.2 Charging Process
- Insert Batteries: Carefully insert one or more compatible rechargeable batteries into the charging slots (A, B, C, D). Ensure correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated on the charger and battery. The charger will automatically detect the battery type and begin charging.
- Monitor Charging: The LCD screen will display the charging status for each inserted battery.
- Completion: Charging is complete when the battery level indicator on the LCD shows 100% or full. Remove batteries once charging is finished.
4.3 LCD Display Information
The LCD screen provides detailed information about the charging process:
- Battery Type: Displays whether the battery is Li-ion or Ni-MH/Ni-Cd.
- Voltage (V): Shows the current voltage of the battery.
- Charging Current (mA): Indicates the current charging rate.
- Charging Time (Time): Displays the elapsed charging duration.
- Battery Level Indicator: A graphical bar shows the approximate charge level (0-20%, 20-40%, 40-60%, 60-80%, 80-99%, 100%).
The four buttons (A, B, C, D) below the LCD correspond to each charging channel. A single click on a button will cycle through the displayed information (voltage, current, time) for that specific channel. Long-pressing any button will turn off the LCD screen; single-clicking it again will turn it back on. Note that battery levels will not be displayed without power connected.

5. Safety Precautions
- Always ensure correct battery polarity when inserting batteries into the charger. Incorrect insertion may result in an 'ERR' message on the display.
- Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
- Use the charger in a well-ventilated area, away from flammable materials.
- Avoid exposing the charger to water or extreme temperatures.
- The charger is equipped with UL certified protections against short-circuit, over-current, over-voltage, and reverse polarity to ensure safe operation.
- Keep out of reach of children.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use, store the charger in a cool, dry place.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord and charger for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
7. Troubleshooting
- Charger Not Powering On: Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the charger and the power outlet. Verify the outlet is functional.
- 'ERR' Message on Display: This typically indicates incorrect battery insertion (reversed polarity) or an incompatible/damaged battery. Re-insert the battery correctly or try a different battery.
- Battery Not Charging: Check if the battery is properly seated in the slot. Ensure it is a rechargeable battery type supported by the ARE-A4. Clean battery contacts if necessary.
- Slow Charging: Ensure the charger is receiving adequate power. Charging speed can vary based on battery type, capacity, and current charge level.
