Setup

Proper setup of your Morley ABC Pro pedal is crucial for optimal performance. Follow these steps to connect your pedal:

  1. Power Connection: Connect a standard 9V DC power supply (not included) to the '9V INPUT' jack on the pedal. Alternatively, the pedal can be powered by a 9V battery (not included).
  2. Instrument Input: Connect your instrument (e.g., guitar) to the 'INPUT' jack on the pedal using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
  3. Amplifier Outputs: Connect up to three amplifiers or other audio devices to the 'A', 'B', and 'C' output jacks using standard 1/4-inch instrument cables.
  4. Ground Lift & Polarity: For each output (A, B, C), use the corresponding 'LIFT GRND' switch to engage the ground lift if you experience hum or noise. The '180° NORM' switch allows you to reverse the phase of the signal, which can be useful for resolving phase cancellation issues when using multiple amplifiers.

Ensure all connections are secure before powering on your amplifiers and other equipment.

Operating Instructions

The Morley ABC Pro pedal offers intuitive operation for selecting and routing your instrument's signal to multiple outputs.

Footswitch Functions:

  • A, B, C Footswitches: Press the corresponding footswitch (A, B, or C) to select which output(s) your instrument's signal will be routed to. The illuminated LEDs above each footswitch indicate the active output(s).
  • Multiple Outputs: You can engage multiple outputs simultaneously by pressing more than one footswitch. For example, pressing 'A' and 'B' will send your signal to both outputs A and B.

Advanced Switching Options:

  • 180° NORM (Phase Inversion): Each output features a mini-toggle switch labeled '180° NORM'. In the 'NORM' position, the signal phase is standard. Flipping the switch to '180°' inverts the phase of that specific output. This is particularly useful when combining multiple amplifiers, as it can help eliminate phase cancellation issues that might result in a thin or hollow sound.
  • LIFT GRND (Ground Lift): Adjacent to the phase switch, each output also has a 'LIFT GRND' mini-toggle switch. In the 'NORM' position, the ground connection is standard. Flipping the switch to 'LIFT GRND' disconnects the ground connection for that output. Use this feature to eliminate ground loop hum or buzzing noises that can occur in multi-amp setups.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Morley ABC Pro pedal, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If using battery power, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
  • Cable Connections: Regularly check all input and output jacks and cables for wear and tear. Loose or damaged connections can lead to signal loss or intermittent issues.
  • Footswitch Care: The footswitches are designed for durability, but avoid excessive force or impact to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Morley ABC Pro pedal, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

  • No Signal:
    • Ensure the pedal is properly powered (9V DC adapter or fresh 9V battery).
    • Check all instrument cables for secure connections and functionality.
    • Verify that the correct output (A, B, or C) is selected via the footswitches.
  • Hum or Buzzing Noise:
    • Engage the 'LIFT GRND' switch for the affected output(s) to break ground loops.
    • Ensure you are using a high-quality, regulated 9V DC power supply.
    • Check for faulty cables or other equipment in your signal chain.
  • Thin or Hollow Sound (Phase Issues):
    • If using multiple amplifiers, try flipping the '180° NORM' switch on one or more outputs to correct phase alignment.
  • Intermittent Signal:
    • Inspect all cables and connectors for damage.
    • Ensure the power supply connection is stable.

If problems persist after trying these steps, contact Morley customer support for further assistance.
