Setting the Time and Date

Your Longines HYDROCONQUEST watch is equipped with an automatic movement. It is powered by the motion of your wrist. If the watch has stopped, it can be started by gently shaking it or by manually winding the crown.

  1. Unscrew the Crown: Locate the crown on the right side of the watch case. Gently unscrew it counter-clockwise until it pops out to position 1 (winding position).
  2. Manual Winding: In position 1, turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times to provide initial power to the movement.
  3. Setting the Date: Pull the crown out to position 2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  4. Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to position 3. The seconds hand will stop. Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. To ensure accuracy, set the time a few minutes ahead and then turn the crown counter-clockwise to move the hands back to the exact time.
  5. Secure the Crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into position 0 and screw it down clockwise firmly against the case. This ensures the watch's water resistance.

Operating Your Watch

Using the Unidirectional Rotating Bezel

The Longines HYDROCONQUEST features a unidirectional rotating bezel, designed for measuring elapsed time, particularly useful for diving. The bezel rotates only counter-clockwise to prevent accidental increases in measured time, which is a critical safety feature for divers.

  1. Align the Marker: Before starting an activity, rotate the bezel so that its zero marker (usually a triangle or dot) aligns with the minute hand.
  2. Measure Elapsed Time: As time passes, the minute hand will move. The number on the bezel that the minute hand points to indicates the elapsed time in minutes.

Water Resistance

Your Longines HYDROCONQUEST watch is water-resistant to 300 meters (1000 feet). This makes it suitable for professional diving. However, it is crucial to ensure the crown is always fully screwed down before any contact with water. Do not operate the crown or pushers (if any) while the watch is submerged or wet.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch, clean it regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For the stainless steel bracelet, a soft brush can be used to remove dirt from between the links. After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch thoroughly with fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials for cleaning.

Water Resistance Care

The gaskets that ensure water resistance can degrade over time. It is recommended to have your watch's water resistance checked by an authorized Longines service center every 2-3 years, especially if you frequently use it for diving or water sports.

Servicing

For optimal performance and longevity, your automatic watch should be serviced by an authorized Longines service center approximately every 5 years. Regular servicing ensures the movement remains lubricated and accurate.
