5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Engine Signal Connection
To accurately measure RPMs and engine hours, the signal wire must be correctly connected to the spark plug wire of your engine.
- Locate the spark plug wire on your engine.
- Wrap the signal wire from the tachometer around the spark plug wire 4-5 times. Ensure the wraps are tight and secure.
- Use the provided cable ties to further secure the wrapped signal wire, preventing it from loosening due to vibration or movement.

6.2 Setting Engine Firing Patterns
Accurate RPM readings depend on selecting the correct engine firing pattern. Refer to your engine's specifications to determine the appropriate setting.
- With the engine off, press and hold the SET button until the display enters the setting mode (e.g., P1, P2, P3).
- Press the MENU button to cycle through the available firing patterns (e.g., 1P1R for 1 pulse per revolution, 1P2R for 1 pulse every 2 revolutions, etc.).
- Once the correct pattern is displayed, press and hold the SET button to confirm and exit the setting mode.
6.3 Setting Maintenance Reminders (SVC)
The SVC timer can be programmed to remind you of upcoming maintenance.
- Navigate to the SVC display mode by pressing the MENU button.
- Press and hold the SET button until the SVC value starts flashing.
- Use the MENU button to adjust the desired maintenance interval (e.g., 20 hours, 50 hours).
- Press and hold the SET button to confirm the setting. The timer will begin counting down from this value.
6.4 Setting RPM Alert
You can set an RPM alert to warn you if the engine exceeds a specified RPM limit.
- Navigate to the RPM display mode.
- Press and hold both MENU and SET buttons simultaneously until the RPM alert value starts flashing.
- Use the MENU button to adjust the desired RPM alert threshold.
- Press and hold the SET button to confirm. When the engine RPM exceeds this value, the display will show a red backlight and a warning icon.
6.5 User Shutdown
To turn off the display and conserve battery, press and hold both MENU and SET buttons simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds. All recorded data will be retained.

7. Maintenance
7.1 Battery Replacement
The device uses a replaceable CR2450 battery. When the battery indicator shows low power, replace it promptly.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
- Carefully open the battery cover using a small coin or screwdriver.
- Remove the old CR2450 battery and insert a new one, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the battery cover securely. Ensure the cover is installed correctly, with any directional markings aligned, to maintain the waterproof seal.
