Setup
- Prepare Your Workspace: Choose a flat, stable surface for drawing. The kit includes an integrated drawing surface, which can be used to hold your paper securely.
- Secure the Paper: Place a sheet of design paper onto the integrated drawing surface. Use the reusable Spiro-Putty to secure the paper firmly to the surface. Take a small piece of putty, roll it into a ball, and press it onto the back of the paper at the corners or edges. Then press the paper onto the drawing surface.
- Choose Your Ring or Rack: Decide whether you want to draw using one of the large rings or the straight rack. Place your chosen ring or rack on the secured paper. You can also use Spiro-Putty to hold the ring or rack in place if needed, especially for beginners.

Operating Instructions
- Select a Wheel: Choose one of the smaller Spirograph wheels. Each wheel has various holes for different patterns.
- Position the Wheel: Place the chosen wheel inside the larger ring or against the rack. Ensure the teeth of the wheel engage with the teeth of the ring or rack.
- Insert a Pen: Select a pen (standard, glitter, or neon) and insert its tip into one of the holes on the wheel.
- Begin Drawing: While holding the ring or rack steady with one hand, gently press the pen down onto the paper and rotate the wheel with the other hand. Guide the wheel along the inner edge of the ring or the edge of the rack.
- Complete the Design: Continue rotating the wheel until the pattern is complete. The pen will return to its starting point, indicating the design is finished. Lift the pen and the wheel to reveal your creation.
- Experiment: Try different combinations of rings, racks, wheels, and pen holes to create a wide variety of unique designs. The included design guide offers inspiration and techniques.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the plastic components (wheels, rings, rack, drawing surface) with a soft, damp cloth if they become dirty. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: After use, ensure all components are clean and dry. Store them in the provided storage tray to keep them organized and prevent loss. Keep the pens capped to prevent them from drying out.
- Spiro-Putty: Store the Spiro-Putty in its original container or a sealed bag to prevent it from drying out. If it loses its stickiness, it may need to be replaced.
Troubleshooting
- Wheel Jams or Skips:
- Ensure the paper is securely fastened with Spiro-Putty and does not shift during drawing.
- Verify that the teeth of the wheel are properly engaged with the teeth of the ring or rack.
- Apply even, gentle pressure to the pen. Too much pressure can cause the wheel to bind.
- Ensure your hand holding the ring/rack is stable and not moving.
- Pens Not Drawing Smoothly:
- Check if the pen cap was left off, causing the ink to dry. Try drawing a few lines on a scrap piece of paper to get the ink flowing.
- Ensure the pen tip is fully inserted into the wheel hole and makes consistent contact with the paper.
- Designs are Uneven or Incomplete:
- Practice maintaining consistent pressure and speed while rotating the wheel.
- Ensure the paper and the outer ring/rack are completely stationary throughout the drawing process.
