5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Locate the power switch, typically on the underside of the table or near the motor. Flip the switch to the 'ON' position to power the machine. The motor operates silently when idle.

5.2 Speed Control

The servo motor features a speed regulator, usually a dial or knob, allowing you to adjust the maximum sewing speed. For beginners, it is recommended to set a lower speed. Experienced users can set it to a higher speed for faster production.

5.3 Stitch Length Adjustment

The stitch length can be adjusted using the dial located on the machine head. Rotate the dial to select the desired stitch length, up to a maximum of 5 mm. Pressing the adjacent lever may facilitate easier adjustment.

5.4 Reverse Stitching

To perform reverse stitching (backtack), engage the reverse lever. This is useful for securing seams at the beginning and end of a stitch line.

5.5 Presser Foot Lift

The presser foot can be lifted manually by hand (max. 5.5 mm) or using the knee lifter (max. 13 mm). The knee lifter provides hands-free operation, which is convenient for handling fabric.

5.6 Needle Information

The machine uses needles of type DBx1 (16x231), typically sizes 9-18, and up to size 19 for heavier materials. Always use the correct needle size for your fabric to ensure optimal stitching and prevent needle breakage.

5.7 Lighting

For enhanced visibility, additional lighting can be attached to the machine or table. A small magnetic light can provide close illumination, while a larger lamp can illuminate the entire work area.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Lubrication

The Juki DDL-8100e features an auto-lubricating full rotary hook system. Ensure the oil pan is filled with the recommended lubricating oil (No. 7, equivalent to ISO VG7). Regularly check the oil level and replenish as needed to maintain smooth operation and prolong machine life.

6.2 Cleaning

Regularly clean lint and dust from the feed dog, bobbin area, and other accessible parts of the machine. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner attachment. Keeping the machine clean prevents thread jams and ensures consistent stitch quality.
