1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the MUSITREND T316BK-2 Portable Suitcase Turntable. This device allows you to enjoy your vinyl records with its built-in speakers, connect to external audio systems, record vinyl to MP3, and listen privately via headphones. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper operation and to maximize your listening experience.

2. Important Safety Instructions

  • Read all instructions before operating the unit.
  • Keep this manual for future reference.
  • Do not use this apparatus near water.
  • Clean only with a dry cloth.
  • Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  • Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
  • Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  • Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

  1. Platter: Where the record rests.
  2. Tonearm: Holds the stylus and tracks the record grooves.
  3. Stylus/Needle: Reads the audio from the record.
  4. Speed Selector: Switch to select 33 1/3, 45, or 78 RPM.
  5. Power/Volume Knob: Turns the unit on/off and adjusts speaker volume.

  1. DC IN Jack: Connect the power adapter here.
  2. RCA Line Out Jacks (L/R): Connect to external amplifiers or powered speakers.
  3. PC Link Port (USB): Connect to a computer for vinyl-to-MP3 recording.

5. Setup

5.1 Initial Placement

  • Place the turntable on a flat, stable surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or vibration.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

5.2 Power Connection

  1. Connect the power cable to the DC IN jack on the rear of the turntable.
  2. Plug the other end of the power cable into a standard wall outlet.

5.3 Removing the Stylus Protector

  • Carefully remove the white plastic stylus protector from the stylus assembly before playing a record.
  • Keep the protector for safe storage when the turntable is not in use.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Playing a Record

  1. Open the turntable lid.
  2. Place a record on the platter. If playing a 45 RPM single, place the 45 RPM adapter on the center spindle first.
  3. Set the speed selector to the correct speed for your record (33 1/3, 45, or 78 RPM).
  4. Turn the Power/Volume knob clockwise to turn on the unit and set a low volume.
  5. Set the Function Selector to 'PHONO'.
  6. Gently lift the tonearm using the cueing lever.
  7. Move the tonearm over the desired starting track of the record.
  8. Lower the tonearm slowly onto the record using the cueing lever. The record will begin to play.
  9. Adjust the volume to your desired level.
  10. At the end of the record, the tonearm will automatically return to its rest position (auto-stop function). If the auto-stop function is not desired, it can usually be toggled off via a switch near the tonearm base (refer to specific model details if present).
  11. To stop playback manually, lift the tonearm with the cueing lever, return it to the rest, and lower the cueing lever.

6.2 Using RCA Line Out

To connect your turntable to an external amplifier or powered speakers:

  1. Ensure the turntable and external audio system are turned off.
  2. Connect an RCA cable (not included) to the RCA Line Out jacks (red for right, white for left) on the rear of the turntable.
  3. Connect the other end of the RCA cable to the corresponding audio input on your amplifier or powered speakers.
  4. Turn on both the turntable and your external audio system.
  5. Adjust the volume on your external audio system. The turntable's volume knob will not control the output volume when using RCA Line Out.

6.3 Using the Headphone Jack

For private listening:

  1. Plug your headphones (3.5mm jack) into the Headphone Jack on the front of the turntable.
  2. The built-in speakers will automatically mute.
  3. Adjust the volume using the Power/Volume knob.

6.4 Using Auxiliary Input (AUX IN)

To play audio from an external device (e.g., smartphone, tablet) through the turntable's speakers:

  1. Connect a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) from your external device's headphone or line-out jack to the AUX IN jack on the turntable.
  2. Set the Function Selector to 'AUX IN'.
  3. Play audio on your external device.
  4. Adjust the volume using the Power/Volume knob on the turntable and/or your external device.

6.5 Vinyl-to-MP3 Recording (PC Recorder)

This feature allows you to convert your vinyl records into digital MP3 files on your computer.

  1. Install the provided CD software on your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions for installation.
  2. Connect the turntable to your computer using a USB cable (not included) via the PC Link Port on the rear of the turntable.
  3. Set the Function Selector to 'PC LINK'.
  4. Open the recording software on your computer.
  5. Follow the software's instructions to configure recording settings and begin recording.
  6. Start playing your record as described in section 6.1. The audio will be sent to your computer for recording.
  7. Once recording is complete, stop playback on the turntable and save the digital file using the software.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Turntable

  • Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Keep the lid closed when not in use to prevent dust accumulation on the platter and tonearm.

7.2 Stylus Care

  • The stylus is delicate. Handle it with extreme care.
  • Only touch the stylus at its body, not the tip.
  • Clean the stylus regularly with a soft brush, brushing from back to front.
  • A worn stylus can damage records and degrade sound quality. Replace the stylus after approximately 300-500 hours of playback, or if you notice a significant drop in sound quality.

7.3 Record Care

  • Keep records in their sleeves when not in use.
  • Handle records by their edges to avoid touching the grooves.
  • Clean records with a dedicated record cleaning brush or solution to remove dust and static.
