1. Introduction
This manual provides instructions for the Kalawen Outdoor Wireless Temperature Humidity Sensor (Model 201-SWJ). This sensor is designed to wirelessly transmit temperature and humidity data to compatible Kalawen weather stations, specifically models PT3383, PT3388, and PT3390. Please read this manual carefully before use to ensure proper operation and longevity of your device.
2. Safety Information
- Water Resistance: The outdoor sensor is not waterproof. If placing it outdoors, ensure adequate waterproof measures are taken to protect it from rain, snow, and excessive moisture. Failure to do so may result in damage to the device and void the warranty.
- Battery Safety: Use only recommended battery types. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types. Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
- Operating Environment: Avoid exposing the sensor to extreme temperatures outside its specified operating range, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or corrosive environments.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all components are present:
- 1 x Kalawen Outdoor Wireless Temperature Humidity Sensor (Model 201-SWJ)
- Note: Batteries are not included.
4. Setup
Image 1: Kalawen Outdoor Wireless Temperature Humidity Sensor (Model 201-SWJ). This image shows the compact design of the sensor, typically white, with a small display or indicator lights, and a battery compartment on the back.
4.1 Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the sensor.
- Insert the required batteries (typically AA or AAA, refer to the compartment markings) ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Pairing with Weather Station
The sensor needs to be paired with your Kalawen weather station (PT3383, PT3388, or PT3390) to transmit data.
- Ensure both the outdoor sensor and the indoor weather station display unit are powered on.
- On the outdoor sensor, locate and press the "TX" button. This button is used to transmit signals for connecting the outdoor sensor to the indoor display unit. The sensor automatically transmits a signal every minute.
- On your indoor weather station's LCD display, use the "▼" button to select the desired channel (1, 2, or 3) for this outdoor sensor. Each outdoor sensor must be assigned to a unique channel.
- The weather station should now receive data from the outdoor sensor on the selected channel.
4.3 Initial Stabilization
After both the indoor sensor and the outdoor sensor are powered on and the signal is successfully transmitted, it is recommended to let them stand for approximately 3 hours. During this period, the signal and data will stabilize, providing the most accurate readings.
5. Operation
5.1 Channel Selection on Weather Station
- The "▼" button on your weather station's LCD display is used to cycle through channels 1, 2, 3, and the cyclic channel mode.
- To view data from a specific outdoor sensor, press the "▼" button until the corresponding channel number (1, 2, or 3) is displayed.
- The weather station can connect to up to 3 wireless outdoor sensors, each assigned to a different channel.
5.2 Automatic Cyclic Channel Display
- If the cyclic channel mode is activated (indicated by a circular arrow symbol in the upper left corner of the channel number on the weather station's display), the indoor LCD screen will automatically display the temperature and humidity data from all connected channels (1, 2, and 3) in sequence.
- If only one outdoor sensor is connected, the automatic cyclic function will not be available.
5.3 Manual Signal Transmission (TX Button)
- The "TX" button on the outdoor sensor automatically transmits a signal every minute.
- If no data is displayed on the weather station's LCD screen, you can manually press the "TX" button on the outdoor sensor to re-transmit the signal and attempt to re-establish connection.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Water Protection
As the sensor is not waterproof, it is crucial to protect it from direct exposure to rain, snow, and heavy moisture. Consider placing it under an overhang, in a weather-resistant enclosure, or in a location that offers natural protection while still allowing for accurate outdoor readings.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on your weather station shows low power for the outdoor sensor, replace the batteries promptly. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 4.1.
6.3 Cleaning
Wipe the sensor periodically with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Data Displayed on Weather Station:
- Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted in both the sensor and the weather station.
- Press the "TX" button on the outdoor sensor to manually re-transmit the signal.
- Verify that the weather station is set to the correct channel for the outdoor sensor using the "▼" button.
- Ensure the sensor is within the wireless range of the weather station and there are no significant obstructions.
- Inaccurate Temperature/Humidity Readings:
- Allow the sensor and weather station to stabilize for at least 3 hours after initial setup or battery replacement.
- Ensure the sensor is not exposed to direct sunlight, heat sources, or excessive moisture, which can affect readings.
- Check for proper ventilation around the sensor.
- Sensor Not Connecting:
- Confirm the sensor is compatible with your Kalawen weather station model (PT3383, PT3388, PT3390). This sensor is NOT compatible with PT201.
- Repeat the pairing steps in Section 4.2.
