5. Setup

5.1 Physical Installation

1. Choose a Location: Select an indoor location with a clear view of the area you wish to monitor. Ensure it's within reach of a power outlet.
2. Mounting:
   • Mark the drill holes using the mounting template (if provided).
   • Drill holes and insert wall plugs.
   • Secure the camera base to the wall or ceiling using the provided screws.
3. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the camera's power port and then into a 220V electrical outlet. The camera will power on and the status indicator will light up.

5.2 Network Connection

The camera supports Wi-Fi connectivity. For initial setup, it is recommended to connect via Ethernet if available, or proceed with Wi-Fi setup via the mobile application.

5.2.1 Wi-Fi Setup (via Mobile App)

1. Download App: Search for the "HiLookVision" or "Hik-Connect" app (check Quick Start Guide for exact app name) on your smartphone's app store (iOS App Store or Google Play Store).
2. Create Account: Open the app and register for a new account if you don't have one.
3. Add Device:
   • Tap the "+" icon to add a new device.
   • Scan the QR code on the camera or manually enter the serial number.
   • Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the camera to your Wi-Fi network. This usually involves selecting your Wi-Fi SSID and entering the password.
4. Initialization: If prompted, set a new password for your camera for security purposes.

6. Operating the Camera

Once connected, you can access and control your camera through the mobile application.

6.1 Live View

From the app's device list, tap on your camera to access the live view. You can pan, tilt, and zoom (digital zoom) the view, and adjust image settings.

6.2 Recording and Playback

• Manual Recording: Tap the record button in the live view interface to start/stop manual recording.
• Scheduled Recording: Configure recording schedules in the camera settings within the app.
• Playback: Access recorded footage via the "Playback" or "Video History" section in the app. Select the date and time to review events.

6.3 Motion Detection and Alerts

Enable motion detection in the camera settings to receive alerts on your smartphone when motion is detected. You can adjust sensitivity and define detection zones.

6.4 Two-Way Audio

If your camera supports two-way audio, you can use the microphone and speaker icons in the live view to listen to the camera's surroundings or speak through the camera.

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and body. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Firmware Updates: Regularly check for firmware updates through the mobile application. Keeping the firmware updated ensures optimal performance and security.
