1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the Kalawen Wireless Remote Sensor, designed to measure outdoor temperature and humidity. This sensor is an accessory for compatible Kalawen weather clocks, enabling remote monitoring of environmental conditions in various outdoor locations such as backyards, gardens, courtyards, and basements.
2. Product Overview
The Kalawen Wireless Remote Sensor is a compact, battery-powered device that transmits temperature and humidity data wirelessly to a compatible Kalawen weather station. It features a small LCD display for local readings and a channel selector for multi-sensor setups.

- Wireless Signal Indicator: Displays signal transmission status.
- Wall Hang Hole: For mounting the sensor.
- Three Sensor Channel Switch: Allows selection of channels 1, 2, or 3.
- Remote Temperature Alert Setting (TX Button): Used to manually transmit signals.
- Battery Compartment: Holds 2*AA batteries.
3. Setup and Installation
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment (5) and insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Channel Selection: Use the three sensor channel switch (3) to select a channel (1, 2, or 3) for the sensor. Ensure this channel matches the desired channel on your main weather station display unit.
- Initial Signal Transmission: After installing batteries, the sensor will automatically attempt to transmit a signal. If no data appears on your weather station's LCD screen, you can manually press the "TX" button (4) to re-transmit the signal.
- Stabilization Period: For optimal accuracy, allow both the indoor weather station and the outdoor sensor to stand for approximately 3 hours after initial power-on and successful signal transmission. During this period, the signal and data will stabilize.
- Placement: Place the sensor in your desired outdoor location (backyard, garden, courtyard, basement). Utilize the wall hang hole (2) for secure mounting. Ensure the sensor is protected from direct precipitation for longevity.
4. Operation
The Kalawen Wireless Remote Sensor operates by continuously monitoring temperature and humidity and transmitting this data to your compatible Kalawen weather clock.
- Automatic Signal Transmission: The sensor automatically transmits its signal approximately every minute.
- Manual Signal Transmission: If you need to force a signal transmission, press the "TX" button (4) on the sensor.
- Channel Switching on Main Display: On your main weather station display, use the "▼" button to switch between channels 1, 2, and 3, or to activate the cyclic channel display. The cyclic channel (indicated by a circular arrow symbol) will automatically rotate through the data from all connected sensors.
- Important Note on Cyclic Channel: The automatic cyclic function for channels is only available if multiple outdoor sensors are connected. If only one outdoor sensor is connected, you will need to manually select its channel on the main display.
5. Compatibility
This sensor is specifically designed for use with Kalawen weather clock models 3383, 388, and 3390. It is NOT compatible with model PT201.
6. Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the sensor's display or the main weather station. Always use fresh AA batteries.
- Cleaning: Wipe the sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
- Environmental Protection: While designed for outdoor use, protect the sensor from extreme weather conditions, direct heavy rain, and prolonged direct sunlight to ensure longevity and accurate readings.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No data displayed on the main weather station LCD screen. | Sensor not transmitting, out of range, or channel mismatch. |
|
| Inaccurate or unstable readings. | Insufficient stabilization time or environmental interference. |
|
| Cyclic channel function unavailable. | Only one outdoor sensor connected. | The cyclic channel feature requires more than one outdoor sensor to be connected. If you only have one sensor, you must manually select its channel on the main display. |
