1. Product Overview

The KRUPS EA816B70 is a fully automatic espresso machine designed for convenient preparation of various coffee beverages. 3.1 Main Components:

• A. Coffee Bean Hopper: For whole coffee beans. Capacity: 260g.
• B. Water Tank: Removable tank for fresh water. Capacity: 1.7L.
• C. Drip Tray: Collects excess water and coffee drips. Removable for cleaning.
• D. Coffee Spout: Dispenses brewed coffee. Height-adjustable.
• E. Milk Frother Nozzle: For steaming milk for cappuccinos and lattes.

3.2 Control Panel:

• LCD Screen: Displays status, settings, and prompts.
• Power Button: Turns the machine on/off.
• Coffee Selection Buttons: Direct access to Espresso, Coffee, Cappuccino, etc.
• +/- Buttons: Adjust coffee volume or intensity.
• Start/Stop Button: Initiates or stops brewing.

4. Setup and First Use

4.1 Unpacking and Placement:

1. Remove all packaging materials.
2. Place the machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from water sources and direct sunlight.
3. Ensure adequate ventilation around the machine.

4.2 Initial Cleaning:

1. Wash the water tank, drip tray, and grounds container with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
2. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.

4.3 Filling Water Tank and Bean Hopper:

1. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold drinking water up to the MAX level. Reinsert it firmly.
2. Open the coffee bean hopper lid and fill with whole coffee beans. Close the lid securely.

4.4 First Use / Priming:

1. Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet.
2. Press the Power button. The machine will perform an automatic rinse cycle.
3. Follow the instructions on the LCD screen for initial setup, including water hardness setting.
4. The machine is ready for use once the priming cycle is complete.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making Coffee:

1. Place a cup under the coffee spout.
2. Select your desired coffee type (e.g., Espresso, Coffee) using the dedicated buttons.
3. Adjust the coffee volume or intensity using the +/- buttons if desired.
4. Press the Start/Stop button to begin brewing. The machine will grind the beans and dispense the coffee.
5. To stop brewing prematurely, press the Start/Stop button again.

5.2 Preparing Milk-Based Beverages (Cappuccino, Latte):

1. Fill the milk container with cold milk.
2. Connect the milk frother tube to the machine's milk frother nozzle.
3. Place a cup under the coffee spout and milk frother.
4. Select your desired milk-based beverage (e.g., Cappuccino).
5. The machine will first dispense the espresso, then steam the milk and add it to your cup.
6. After use, clean the milk system immediately to prevent blockages.

5.3 Adjusting Grind Level:

The machine offers 3 grind levels. Adjusting the grind level affects the coffee extraction and taste. Finer grind for stronger espresso, coarser for lighter coffee.

• Access the settings menu via the Settings button.
• Navigate to the grind level adjustment option.
• Adjust the setting as per your preference.
• Note: Only adjust the grind level while the grinder is operating.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your machine.

6.1 Daily Cleaning:

• Drip Tray and Grounds Container: Empty and rinse daily.
• Milk System: After each milk preparation, run the automatic milk system cleaning cycle or rinse the milk frother nozzle thoroughly.
• Exterior: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth.

6.2 Descaling:

The machine will prompt you when descaling is required. Use a descaling solution recommended by KRUPS.

1. Follow the on-screen instructions for the descaling process.
2. Typically involves emptying the water tank, adding descaling solution, and running a cycle.
3. Rinse the machine thoroughly after descaling.

6.3 Water Filter Replacement:

If using a water filter, replace it as indicated by the machine or every two months, whichever comes first.
