5. Setup and Installation

Professional installation by a qualified electrician is recommended for electrical wiring.

5.1 Pre-Installation Steps

  1. Turn off Power: Ensure the power supply to the installation area is completely disconnected at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. Select Location: Choose a suitable outdoor location, preferably on a wall, where the floodlight can cover the desired area. The recommended installation height is approximately 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) for optimal motion detection.

5.2 Mounting the Fixture

  1. Prepare Junction Box: Ensure your existing junction box is compatible. The mounting bracket is designed for junction boxes with screw ranges between 2.28 inches and 3.66 inches.
  2. Junction box screw range diagram
Figure 5.1: Diagram illustrating the compatible screw range for the junction box (2.28"-3.66").
  3. Attach Mounting Plate: Secure the mounting plate to the junction box using the provided screws.
  4. Wire Connections: Connect the floodlight's wires to your household wiring:
    • Black wire (fixture) to Black wire (supply) - Live
    • White wire (fixture) to White wire (supply) - Neutral
    • Green/Ground wire (fixture) to Green/Ground wire (supply) - Ground
Use appropriate wire nuts to secure connections.
  5. Install Gasket: Place the included gasket between the fixture and the mounting surface to ensure a waterproof seal.

6. Operating Instructions

Once installed and power is restored, the floodlight will operate based on its motion sensor and ambient light detection.

6.1 Motion Sensor Operation

The motion sensor has a 110-degree sensing angle and can detect motion up to 50 feet (15 meters) away. It is designed to activate the light when motion is detected in low-light conditions.

6.2 Time Setting Adjustment

The duration for which the light stays on after motion detection can be adjusted using the 'TIME' dial on the motion sensor unit.

  • TEST: For initial setup and testing. The light will turn on for a few seconds when motion is detected, regardless of ambient light.
  • 1MIN: Light stays on for approximately 1 minute after motion stops.
  • 3MIN: Light stays on for approximately 3 minutes after motion stops.
  • 10MIN: Light stays on for approximately 10 minutes after motion stops.

6.3 Dusk to Dawn Functionality

The integrated photocell ensures the light only activates when ambient light levels are low (dusk) and automatically turns off when light levels are sufficient (dawn).

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your floodlight.

  • Cleaning: Clean the fixture with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the motion sensor lens is clear of dirt and debris for proper operation.
  • Inspection: Periodically check for any loose wiring or damage to the fixture. If damage is found, disconnect power and consult a qualified electrician.
  • LEDs: The integrated LEDs are designed for long life and are not user-replaceable.
