2. Safety Information

WARNING: Always follow basic safety precautions when installing and operating this electrical equipment.

  • This product is designed for outdoor use only. Do not operate indoors.
  • Ensure the power supply (220-240V) matches the pump's requirements.
  • Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or installation procedures.
  • Keep children away from the filter pump and electrical connections.
  • Do not operate the pump if the power cord or plug is damaged.
  • Never run the pump dry (without water).
  • Consult a qualified electrician for any electrical issues or wiring.

3. Package Contents

Please check to ensure all components are present and undamaged:

  • Jilong Avenli Sand Filter Pump Unit
  • Hoses and Clamps for connection
  • Connection Adapters
  • Instruction Manual

Note: Filter sand with a grain size of 0.45-0.85mm is not included and must be purchased separately.

4. Setup and Installation

Installation is straightforward and typically takes approximately 20 minutes. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Positioning the Filter: Place the sand filter pump on a firm, level surface, at least 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the pool. Ensure it is lower than the pool's water level for optimal performance.

  2. Adding Filter Sand: Unscrew the top cover of the filter tank. Carefully pour the recommended filter sand (0.45-0.85mm grain size) into the tank. Do not overfill; leave approximately 15-20 cm from the top.

  3. Connecting Hoses:
    • Connect one hose from the pool's outlet (suction) to the "INLET" port on the filter pump.
    • Connect the second hose from the "OUTLET" port on the filter pump to the pool's inlet (return) fitting.
    • Secure all hose connections with clamps to prevent leaks.

  4. Priming the Pump: Before starting, ensure the filter tank is filled with water. Open all necessary valves to allow water to flow from the pool into the filter pump. This helps to remove air from the system.
  5. Electrical Connection: Plug the pump into a grounded electrical outlet (220-240V). Ensure the outlet is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for safety.

5. Operating Instructions

The sand filter pump features a multi-port valve for various operations. Familiarize yourself with the valve positions:

Figure 5.1: Top view of the sand filter with multi-port valve. This image displays the control valve with its various settings (Filter, Backwash, Rinse, Waste, Recirculate, Closed) and the integrated pressure gauge.

  • FILTER: This is the standard operating position for daily filtration. Water flows through the sand, trapping debris, and returns clean water to the pool.
  • BACKWASH: Used to clean the filter sand. Water flows in reverse, flushing trapped debris out through the waste port.
  • RINSE: Used after backwashing to settle the sand and flush any remaining dirty water from the valve.
  • WASTE/DRAIN: Bypasses the filter and sends water directly out the waste port. Useful for vacuuming heavy debris or lowering pool water level.
  • RECIRCULATE/BYPASS: Circulates water without filtering it. Useful for mixing chemicals.
  • CLOSED: Shuts off all flow to the filter. Use when performing maintenance or when the pump is off for extended periods.

To change valve positions, always turn off the pump first.

Daily Operation:

  1. Ensure the multi-port valve is set to FILTER.
  2. Turn on the pump.
  3. Allow the pump to run for several hours daily, depending on pool size and usage, to maintain water clarity.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your sand filter.

Backwashing the Filter:

Backwash when the pressure gauge reads 0.2-0.3 bar (3-5 PSI) above its clean operating pressure, or when water flow significantly decreases.

  1. Turn off the pump.
  2. Set the multi-port valve to BACKWASH.
  3. Turn on the pump and run until the water flowing from the waste port is clear (typically 1-2 minutes).
  4. Turn off the pump.
  5. Set the multi-port valve to RINSE.
  6. Turn on the pump and run for 30-60 seconds.
  7. Turn off the pump.
  8. Set the multi-port valve back to FILTER.
  9. Turn on the pump to resume normal filtration.

Winterization:

Before freezing temperatures, drain all water from the filter pump and hoses. Store the unit in a dry, protected area.
