The box should contain:

  • Epson EcoTank ET-2720 All-in-One Printer
  • 1x bottle 522 Black ink (65 mL)
  • 1x bottle each 522 Cyan, Magenta, Yellow ink (65 mL)
  • Power Cord
  • CD-ROM for product setup (includes drivers and software)

1.2 Ink Filling Procedure

The EcoTank ET-2720 uses high-capacity ink tanks instead of cartridges. Follow these steps to fill the ink tanks:

  1. Open the ink tank unit cover on the front of the printer.
  2. Open the cap for the black ink tank.
  3. Uncap the black ink bottle. The EcoFit bottles are uniquely keyed to fit only the correct color tank, preventing accidental filling errors.
  4. Insert the ink bottle into the filling port. The ink will automatically begin to fill the tank and stop when full. Do not squeeze the bottle.
  5. Once the tank is full, remove the ink bottle and securely close the ink tank cap.
  6. Repeat the process for the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink tanks using their respective color bottles.
  7. Close the ink tank unit cover.

Important:

  • Use only genuine Epson inks for optimal performance and to avoid potential damage not covered by warranty.
  • After initial filling, some ink may remain in the bottles. Store them upright for future refills.

1.3 Initial Printer Setup and Alignment

After filling the ink tanks, connect the power cord and turn on the printer. The printer will initiate an ink charging process, which may take approximately 10 minutes. During this time, do not turn off the printer or perform any other operations.

Once ink charging is complete, the printer will guide you through initial setup steps on its display panel, including:

  • Print Head Alignment: This process involves printing test patterns to ensure proper alignment of the print heads. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the best patterns, which helps prevent lines or misalignments in your prints.
  • Paper Loading: Load plain paper into the rear paper feed slot.

1.4 Connectivity

The Epson ET-2720 offers wireless connectivity for convenient printing from various devices.

  • Wireless (Wi-Fi) Setup:
    1. On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi setup menu.
    2. Select your wireless network (SSID) from the list.
    3. Enter your network password (WPA/WPA2 key) using the control panel.
    4. Confirm the connection.
  • USB Connection: For a direct connection, use a USB cable (not included) to connect the printer to your computer.
  • Epson Smart Panel App: Download the Epson Smart Panel App on your smartphone or tablet for easy setup and mobile printing.

Note:

  • All ink colors are used for printing and printer maintenance. All colors must be available for printing.
  • Non-Epson inks or inks not formulated for your specific printer may cause damage not covered by the Epson warranty.

3.2 Cleaning the Printer

  • Nozzle Check and Head Cleaning: If print quality declines (e.g., missing lines, incorrect colors), perform a nozzle check and head cleaning. These functions can be accessed through the printer's control panel or the printer utility software on your computer.
  • Print Head Alignment: If prints show misaligned lines or banding, perform a print head alignment. This can also be done via the control panel or printer utility.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Scanner Glass Cleaning: If scanned images have streaks or smudges, clean the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild glass cleaner.

4. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Epson ET-2720 printer.

4.1 Paper Jams (Error Codes W-01, E-01)

If you encounter a paper jam error (W-01, E-01) or the printer stops feeding paper:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Carefully open all covers (front, rear, and scanner unit) to access the paper path.
  3. Gently pull out any jammed paper, ensuring no small pieces are left inside. Avoid tearing the paper.
  4. Check for any obstructions in the paper feed area.
  5. Close all covers securely.
  6. Plug in the power cord and turn on the printer.
  7. If the error persists, try performing a print head cleaning or alignment as described in the Maintenance section.

Note:

  • Sometimes the printer may indicate a jam even if no paper is physically stuck. Follow the steps above to clear any potential unseen debris.
  • Ensure you are using appropriate paper types and that paper is loaded correctly without being bent or creased.

4.2 Print Quality Issues

  • Lines or Banding in Prints: Perform a nozzle check to identify clogged nozzles. If clogs are present, run a head cleaning cycle. If the issue persists, perform a print head alignment.
  • Faded or Incorrect Colors: Check ink levels and refill any low tanks. Perform a nozzle check and head cleaning. Ensure you are using genuine Epson inks.
  • Smudges or Streaks: Clean the print head and check for any foreign objects on the paper path or scanner glass.

4.3 Connectivity Problems

  • Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi router is on and functioning.
    • Verify the Wi-Fi password entered on the printer is correct.
    • Move the printer closer to the router if possible to improve signal strength.
    • Restart your router, computer, and printer.
  • USB Connection Not Recognized:
    • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
    • Try a different USB port on your computer.
    • Install or reinstall the printer drivers.
