  • Epson EcoTank ET-4760 all-in-one printer

2.2 Filling the Ink Tanks

The EcoTank ET-4760 uses large, refillable ink tanks. Follow these steps to fill them:

  1. Open the ink tank unit cover on the side of the printer.
  2. Open the cap for the black ink tank.
  3. Uncap the black ink bottle. The EcoFit bottles are uniquely keyed to fit only the correct color tank.
  4. Insert the ink bottle into the filling port. The ink will automatically start filling the tank. Do not squeeze the bottle.
  5. Once the tank is full, the ink flow will stop automatically. Remove the bottle and securely close the ink tank cap.
  6. Repeat the process for the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink tanks.

Important: Use only genuine Epson ink bottles to ensure optimal print quality and prevent damage not covered under warranty.

2.3 Power On and Initial Configuration

Connect the power cord and turn on the printer. Follow the on-screen instructions on the 2.4-inch color touchscreen to complete the initial setup, including language selection, date, and time settings. The printer will then initiate an ink charging process, which may take several minutes.

2.4 Network Setup (Wired and Wireless)

The ET-4760 supports both wired Ethernet and wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity.

  • For Wired Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or network hub to the printer's Ethernet port.
  • For Wireless Connection: On the printer's touchscreen, navigate to the Wi-Fi setup menu. Select your network (SSID) and enter the password.

2.5 Software Installation

Insert the provided CD-ROM into your computer and follow the installation wizard. Alternatively, download the latest drivers and software from the official Epson support website. This software includes drivers for printing, scanning, and faxing, as well as utilities for printer management.

3. Operating the Printer

3.1 Loading Paper

The printer features a 250-sheet paper tray. Pull out the paper cassette, adjust the side guides to fit your paper size, and load paper print-side down. Ensure the paper stack does not exceed the maximum fill line.

3.2 Printing Documents and Photos

From your computer or mobile device, select the Epson ET-4760 as your printer. Adjust print settings such as paper type, print quality (standard, draft, high), and color options. The printer supports automatic 2-sided printing for paper-saving.

3.3 Scanning Documents

You can scan documents using the flatbed scanner or the 30-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

  • Flatbed Scanning: Place a single document face down on the scanner glass.
  • ADF Scanning: Load multiple documents face up into the ADF.

Initiate the scan from your computer using Epson Scan software or directly from the printer's control panel to a connected device or cloud service.

3.4 Copying Documents

Place your document on the scanner glass or in the ADF. On the printer's touchscreen, select 'Copy'. You can adjust settings such as number of copies, color/black & white, and paper size before starting the copy process.

3.5 Sending Faxes

Load your document into the ADF or place it on the scanner glass. On the touchscreen, select 'Fax'. Enter the recipient's fax number and press 'Start'. The printer supports various fax settings, including resolution and delayed sending.

3.6 Mobile Printing and Voice-Activated Printing

The Epson Smart Panel App allows you to print, scan, and check printer status from your smartphone or tablet. The ET-4760 also supports voice-activated printing through compatible devices like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Refer to the Epson website for device compatibility and setup instructions for voice commands.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Checking and Refilling Ink Levels

Visually inspect the ink tanks on the front of the printer to monitor ink levels. When an ink tank is low, refill it using the corresponding EcoFit ink bottle as described in Section 2.2. Do not wait for the tank to be completely empty before refilling.

4.2 Performing Print Head Cleaning

If print quality declines (e.g., missing lines, faded colors), perform a print head cleaning. This can be done through the printer's control panel menu or via the Epson printer utility software on your computer. Regular cleaning helps maintain optimal print quality.

4.3 Replacing the Maintenance Box

The printer has a user-replaceable maintenance box that collects waste ink during cleaning cycles. When the printer indicates that the maintenance box is full, it must be replaced. Follow the instructions on the printer's screen or in the full user manual for replacement procedures. A new maintenance box can be purchased separately.

5. Troubleshooting Common Issues

This section addresses common problems you might encounter with your Epson ET-4760 printer.

  • Printer Not Responding:
Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet). Check network cables and Wi-Fi signal strength. Restart both the printer and your computer/router.
  • Poor Print Quality (Streaks, Fading, Incorrect Colors):
Check ink levels and refill if necessary. Perform a print head cleaning and nozzle check from the printer's maintenance menu. Ensure you are using appropriate paper settings for your print job.
  • Paper Jams:
Carefully remove any jammed paper from the paper tray, output tray, or inside the printer. Refer to the printer's display for specific jam locations. Avoid tearing the paper.
  • Connectivity Issues:
For Wi-Fi, verify your network password and ensure the printer is within range of your router. For Ethernet, check the cable connection. Try restarting your router.
  • Error Messages on Display:
Note the error code or message and consult the full user manual or Epson support website for specific solutions. Common errors relate to paper type, ink levels, or maintenance box status.
  • Double-Sided Printing Alignment Issues:
If double-sided prints are misaligned, ensure paper guides are correctly set in the paper tray. Perform a print head alignment from the printer's maintenance menu.
  • Slow Scanning or Low Scan Quality:
For higher quality scans, increase the DPI (dots per inch) setting in your scanning software. Be aware that higher DPI settings will increase scan time. Ensure the scanner glass is clean.
