Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance will extend the life of your Osprey Aether AG 70 backpack.

  • Cleaning: Hand wash with mild soap and cold water. Do not use bleach or harsh detergents. For spot cleaning, use a damp cloth.
  • Drying: Air dry the pack completely in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Do not expose to direct sunlight or high heat, as this can damage the fabric and coatings.
  • Storage: Store the pack in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure it is completely dry before storage to prevent mildew.
  • Zippers and Buckles: Periodically check zippers and buckles for debris and ensure smooth operation. Lubricate zippers if necessary with a silicone-based spray.
  • Repairs: For significant damage or wear, contact Osprey customer service or an authorized repair center.

Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their solutions:

  • Discomfort/Poor Fit:

Ensure the pack is correctly sized for your torso length. Adjust the harness and hipbelt according to the fitting instructions. Distribute weight evenly within the pack, placing heavier items closer to your back and between your shoulder blades.

  • Squeaking Noises:

Squeaking can sometimes occur from friction between the frame and fabric. Check all adjustment points and ensure they are securely fastened. A small amount of silicone spray on contact points might help.

  • Zippers Sticking:

Clean any dirt or debris from the zipper teeth. Apply a zipper lubricant or a small amount of graphite (from a pencil) to the teeth to improve smoothness.

  • Water Leakage:

While the pack is water-resistant, it is not fully waterproof. For heavy rain, use a rain cover (sold separately). Check for any tears or punctures in the fabric and repair as needed.
