1. Introduction

2. What's in the Box

Upon unboxing your INSWAN INS-1 Document Camera, please verify that all the following components are included:

3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your INSWAN INS-1 Document Camera:

Position the Camera: Place the camera on a stable, flat surface. The weighted base ensures stability. Adjust the multi-joint arm to position the camera head over the desired capture area.
Connect to Computer: Plug the integrated USB-A cable into an available USB port on your PC (Windows 7/8/10/11), Mac (OS10.12 or higher), or Chromebook (38.00 or higher). If your computer only has USB-C ports, a USB-A to USB-C adapter (not included) will be required.
Install Software: Download and install the latest version of the INSWAN Documate software from the official INSWAN website. This software is essential for accessing all camera features, including digital zoom, image annotation, and recording.
Launch Documate: Open the INSWAN Documate application. The camera feed should appear automatically.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Basic Operation

Power On/Off: The camera powers on automatically when connected to a powered USB port. Disconnect to power off.
Live View: Once connected and Documate software is running, the camera will display a live feed of the area beneath its lens.
Adjusting the Arm: The multi-joint design allows for flexible positioning. Adjust the arm to capture documents or objects up to 15.74 x 11.81 inches.

4.2. Imaging and Focus

The INS-1 features an 8MP SONY CMOS sensor, providing ultra-high definition images up to 3264 x 2448 pixels and lag-free video streaming at 30 frames per second across all resolutions.

Auto-Focus: The camera features an auto-focus lens that quickly shifts focus between objects. Press the 'AF' button on the camera head for quick auto-focus.
Macro Feature: Capture objects as close as 10 cm with crisp detail.
LED Light: Use the built-in LED light for enhanced illumination in challenging lighting conditions. The light has automated exposure control.
Anti-Glare Sheet: Place the included anti-glare sheet over shiny objects or documents to eliminate reflections and improve image clarity.

4.3. INSWAN Documate Software Features

The bundled INSWAN Documate software provides a comprehensive suite of tools:

Digital Zoom: Zoom in and out on the live feed.
Image Annotation: Draw, write, and add shapes directly onto the live image or captured snapshots.
Image Rotation: Rotate the image by 180 degrees by pressing two buttons simultaneously on the camera head.
Video Recording & Snapshots: Capture high-quality video and still images for later use.
Hue Adjustment: Fine-tune color settings for optimal display.
Whiteboard Feature: Utilize a digital whiteboard for freeform drawing and note-taking.
OCR (Optical Character Recognition): Perform simple scans with OCR (Available on Mac OS & Windows OS).

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your INSWAN INS-1 Document Camera, follow these maintenance guidelines:

Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body and lens. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as they may damage the surface or optical components.
Storage: When not in use, store the camera in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
Handling: Handle the camera with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts, which could damage internal components or the multi-joint mechanism.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your INSWAN INS-1 Document Camera, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

No Image/Video Feed:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the camera and your computer.
- Verify that the INSWAN Documate software is properly installed and running.
- Try connecting the camera to a different USB port on your computer.
- Restart your computer and the Documate software.
Blurred Image:
- Press the 'AF' (Auto-Focus) button on the camera head to re-focus.
- Ensure the object is within the camera's optimal focus range (minimum 10 cm for macro).
- Check for any smudges or dust on the camera lens and clean gently with a soft cloth.
Poor Lighting:
- Activate the built-in LED light on the camera head.
- Use the provided anti-glare sheet if capturing reflective surfaces.
- Adjust ambient room lighting to improve visibility.
Software Not Responding:
- Close and reopen the INSWAN Documate software.
- Check for available software updates on the INSWAN website.
