4. Setup and Installation

The Bosch EV400 Series charging station is designed for straightforward installation. It requires a dedicated 50-Amp, 240V circuit and a NEMA 6-50R receptacle.

Installation Steps:

  1. Site Selection: Choose a location near your vehicle's parking spot that has access to a 50-Amp 240V NEMA 6-50R receptacle. Ensure the location allows for the 25-foot cable to reach your vehicle's charging port comfortably.
  2. Mounting the Unit: Securely mount the charging station to a wall using two appropriate screws. The unit is designed to be mounted directly on a wall.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the charging station's power cord into the 50-Amp 240V NEMA 6-50R receptacle.
  4. Outdoor Installation (if applicable): If installing outdoors, ensure the NEMA 6-50R receptacle has an appropriate in-use weather-resistant cover to protect it from elements during charging.
  5. Cable Management: Utilize the provided cable management hook to neatly store the charging cable when not in use.

5. Operating Instructions

Operating your Bosch EV400 Series charging station is simple and intuitive.

Charging Your Vehicle:

  1. Ensure Power: Verify the charging station is plugged into the 240V receptacle and the 'Power' indicator light on the unit is illuminated.
  2. Connect to Vehicle: Open your electric vehicle's charging port and firmly insert the J1772 connector from the charging station into the vehicle's port. Ensure it clicks into place.
  3. Initiate Charging: The charging process should begin automatically. The 'Status' indicator light on the charging station will illuminate or flash, indicating active charging. Your vehicle's dashboard or charging indicator will also confirm charging.
  4. Monitor Charging: You can monitor the charging status via the unit's indicators or your vehicle's display.
  5. Stop Charging: To stop charging, you can either press the 'Stop' button on the charging station, or disconnect the connector from your vehicle (following your vehicle's specific instructions for safe disconnection).
  6. Disconnect and Store: Once charging is complete, disconnect the J1772 connector from your vehicle and return it to its holster on the cable management hook.
