1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your Smeg KSEIR62BE2 integrated extractor hood. Please read these instructions carefully before installation, operation, or maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety. Keep this manual for future reference.
2. Safety Information
Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.
- Ensure the electrical installation complies with local regulations.
- Do not allow children to operate the appliance.
- Regularly clean the grease filters to prevent fire hazards.
- Do not flambé under the extractor hood.
- Ensure adequate ventilation in the room when the hood is used simultaneously with gas or other fuel-burning appliances.
- Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before any cleaning or maintenance.
3. Setup and Installation
The Smeg KSEIR62BE2 is designed for under-cabinet mounting. Proper installation is crucial for performance and safety.
3.1. Dimensions and Clearance
Refer to the diagram below for precise dimensions and required clearances. The minimum installation distance to an electric hob is 500 mm, and to a gas hob is 650 mm.

Figure 1: Technical drawing showing the dimensions of the Smeg KSEIR62BE2 integrated extractor hood. Key dimensions include a width of 598 mm, a depth ranging from 440 to 490 mm, a height of 150 mm, and a duct diameter of 120 mm. The front panel extends 225 mm when pulled out.
3.2. Mounting
This appliance is designed for under-cabinet mounting. Ensure the cabinet structure is robust enough to support the hood's weight (approximately 6.8 kg). Follow the provided mounting template (if included with the product) for accurate placement of screws and ducting.
3.3. Ducting
The exhaust outlet has a diameter of 120 mm. Connect the hood to an external ventilation system using appropriate ducting. Ensure the ducting is as short and straight as possible to maximize extraction efficiency. Avoid sharp bends and reductions in diameter.
4. Operating Instructions
The Smeg KSEIR62BE2 features a slider control for adjusting fan speed and lighting.
4.1. Powering On/Off
To activate the hood, pull out the retractable front panel. The hood will automatically turn on. Push the panel back in to turn off the hood.
4.2. Adjusting Fan Speed
Use the slider control to select one of the three available fan speeds:
- Speed I (Minimum): Ideal for light cooking, simmering, or when minimal extraction is needed. Airflow: 115 m³/h, Noise Level: 52 dB(A).
- Speed II (Medium): Suitable for general cooking and moderate steam/odor. Airflow: Approximately 160 m³/h (estimated), Noise Level: 59 dB(A).
- Speed III (Maximum): For intensive cooking, frying, or when strong odors and steam are present. Airflow: 225 m³/h, Noise Level: 68 dB(A).
4.3. Lighting
The hood is equipped with two 4W LED lamps to illuminate your cooking area. The lighting can be controlled independently via the slider control or a dedicated switch (if present, refer to specific product markings).
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your extractor hood.
5.1. Cleaning the Grease Filter
The hood includes one metal grease filter. This filter traps grease particles from cooking fumes and should be cleaned regularly (approximately every 2-4 weeks, depending on usage) to maintain optimal performance and prevent fire hazards.
- Disconnect Power: Always unplug the hood or switch off the power at the main circuit breaker before cleaning.
- Remove Filter: Locate the release latches or clips on the grease filter and carefully remove it.
- Clean Filter: Wash the filter by hand in hot water with a mild detergent, or in a dishwasher on a low-temperature cycle. Ensure it is completely dry before re-installation.
- Re-install Filter: Insert the clean, dry filter back into its position, ensuring it is securely latched.
5.2. Cleaning the Exterior
Clean the exterior surfaces of the hood with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or steam cleaners, as these can damage the finish. The product color is white, so gentle cleaning is recommended to maintain its appearance.
5.3. Replacing LED Lamps
If an LED lamp needs replacement, ensure the power is disconnected. Consult a qualified technician or refer to the full service manual for detailed instructions on lamp replacement, as specific tools or procedures may be required.
6. Troubleshooting
Before contacting customer service, try these simple solutions for common issues:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Hood does not turn on. | No power supply; retractable panel not fully extended. | Check power connection and circuit breaker. Ensure the panel is fully pulled out. |
| Poor extraction performance. | Clogged grease filter; obstructed ducting; insufficient room ventilation. | Clean or replace grease filter. Check ducting for obstructions. Ensure adequate air intake in the kitchen. |
| Excessive noise. | Loose components; obstructed fan; incorrect installation. | Check for loose parts. Clear any obstructions from the fan. Verify installation according to instructions. |
| Lights not working. | Faulty LED lamp; electrical connection issue. | Check if the hood is receiving power. If a lamp is faulty, it may need professional replacement. |
