Operating Instructions

1. Camera Modes

The Silent CAM 30MP LIGHTSOUT offers three primary operating modes:

  • STILL: Captures still images when motion is detected.
  • VIDEO: Records video clips when motion is detected.
  • BOTH: Captures a still image followed by a video clip when motion is detected.

Select your desired mode from the PIR MODE option in the settings menu.

2. Motion Detection (PIR)

The Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor detects heat and motion. Adjusting the PIR SENSE setting controls the sensitivity of this sensor:

  • HI (High): Most sensitive, detects motion at greater distances or with smaller movements. May result in more false triggers from environmental factors.
  • MED (Medium): Balanced sensitivity, suitable for most applications.
  • LO (Low): Least sensitive, detects motion at closer distances or with larger movements. Reduces false triggers in windy conditions or areas with dense foliage.

The DELAY setting determines the waiting period before the camera can trigger again after an initial detection. Shorter delays capture more events, while longer delays conserve battery life and SD card space.

3. Retrieving Media

To access your captured images and videos:

  • Power off the camera.
  • Remove the SD card from its slot.
  • Insert the SD card into a compatible card reader connected to a computer or other viewing device.
  • Browse the files on the SD card to view your media.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

  • Lens: Gently wipe the camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the lens.
  • Housing: Clean the camera's exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • PIR Sensor: Ensure the PIR sensor window is clear of dirt, debris, or spiderwebs to maintain optimal detection performance.

2. Battery Management

  • Replace all batteries simultaneously. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different battery types.
  • If the camera will be stored for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and potential damage.

3. SD Card Management

  • Regularly format your SD card using the camera's internal formatting function (if available) or a computer. This helps prevent data corruption.
  • Ensure the SD card is properly inserted and removed to avoid damage to the card or camera slot.
