1. Introduction

The BurnerAlert Stove Reminder Disc is a safety device designed to provide audio and visual alerts when a stove burner is active. This product helps remind users that a gas or electric stove burner has been turned ON, continuing to alert until the knob is returned to the OFF position. This manual provides instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance of your BurnerAlert discs.

3. Compatibility Requirements

The BurnerAlert Stove Reminder Disc is designed for specific stove knob configurations. Please review the following compatibility guidelines before installation:

• Knob Orientation: This model works on stoves with vertical knob orientation (knobs that turn on an axis perpendicular to the stove surface) or any angle between 45 and 90 degrees.
• Knob Design: It will work on stove knobs without rims.
• Incompatible Configurations:
  • Will NOT work on cooktops where the knob pushes down.
  • Will NOT work on cooktops with horizontal knob orientation.
  • Will NOT work on stove knobs with rims or if your knobs are recessed.

4. Setup and Installation

Installation of the BurnerAlert Disc requires no tools and is designed to be straightforward.

1. Ensure your stove is turned OFF and cool to the touch.
2. Carefully remove the stove knob from its post.
3. Peel the adhesive backing from the BurnerAlert Disc.
4. Align the center hole of the BurnerAlert Disc with the stove knob post.
5. Press the BurnerAlert Disc firmly onto the stove surface around the knob post. Ensure it is securely attached.
6. Re-attach the stove knob onto its post, ensuring it sits flush against the BurnerAlert Disc.
7. Repeat for all desired stove knobs.

5. Operating Instructions

The BurnerAlert Disc provides both audio and visual alerts to indicate an active burner.

• Activation: When a stove knob is turned to an 'ON' position, the BurnerAlert Disc will immediately begin emitting a series of beeps and flashing lights.
• Alert Sequence: The alerts follow a pre-programmed sequence:
• Initial beeps and flashes upon activation.
• Subsequent beeping intervals occur at 3 minutes, 9 minutes, 15 minutes, and then every 15 minutes thereafter.
• The blinking light alert occurs every 7.5 minutes.
• Deactivation: The audio and visual alerts will continue until the stove knob is turned back to the 'OFF' position.

6. Features

In addition to local alerts, the BurnerAlert system offers enhanced monitoring capabilities:

• Amazon Alexa Integration: BurnerAlert can be monitored by Amazon Alexa. This feature allows Alexa to send text messages, emails, or make calls to remind you if a burner has been left 'ON'.

7. Maintenance

The BurnerAlert Disc is powered by a Lithium battery, which is included and pre-installed.

• Battery Life: The average battery life is approximately 1.5 years.
• Battery Replacement: When the battery is depleted, the unit will cease to function. Replace the entire BurnerAlert Disc as the battery is not user-replaceable.

8. Troubleshooting

If your BurnerAlert Disc is not functioning as expected, consider the following:

• No Alert When Burner is ON:
  • Verify correct installation. Ensure the disc is flush against the stove surface and the knob is properly seated.
  • Check compatibility: Confirm your stove knobs meet the vertical orientation and no-rim requirements (refer to Section 3).
  • The battery may be depleted. The average battery life is 1.5 years. If the unit is older than this, replacement may be necessary.
• Constant Beeping/Flashing When Burner is OFF:
  • Ensure the stove knob is fully in the 'OFF' position.
  • Re-check installation to ensure the disc is not obstructed or misaligned, which could interfere with its sensor.
