3.2 SIM Card Installation

The ZTE MF279T requires a Nano SIM card for cellular connectivity. Ensure you have an active data plan from a compatible GSM carrier.

  1. Locate the SIM card slot on the back of the device.
  2. Carefully insert the Nano SIM card into the designated slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the SIM card is oriented correctly as indicated on the device.
  3. Close the SIM card slot cover securely.

3.3 Powering On

Connect the power cord to the device and then to a power outlet. The device will automatically power on. The power indicator light will illuminate.

3.4 Initial Configuration

Upon first power-on, the device will attempt to connect to the cellular network. The default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password can be found on a label on the back of the device. For advanced settings, access the device's web interface:

  • Default Network Name (SSID): ATT-WI-4334
  • Default Wi-Fi Password: 42542373
  • Admin Login URL: http://att.wirelessinternet
  • Default Admin Username: attadmin

It is recommended to change the default Wi-Fi password and admin login credentials for security purposes after initial setup.

4. Operating the Device

4.1 Connecting Devices

The ZTE MF279T Smart Hub supports multiple connection methods:

  • Wi-Fi: Connect up to 20 devices wirelessly using the Wi-Fi SSID and password.
  • Ethernet: Use an Ethernet cable to connect a single device (e.g., computer, router) for a wired connection.
  • WPS: For WPS-enabled devices, press the WPS button on the Smart Hub to quickly establish a secure Wi-Fi connection without entering the password.

4.2 Voice Service

The device provides voice service. Connect a standard home phone to the phone port on the Smart Hub to make and receive calls over the cellular network. Note that voice service quality depends on network signal strength.

4.3 Network Compatibility

The ZTE MF279T is an unlocked 4G LTE device compatible with GSM standard SIM carriers. It supports the following frequencies:

  • UMTS: 850/1900 MHz
  • LTE: Bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 29, 30

Note: This router does NOT work on Verizon, Sprint, Net10, or any CDMA carrier.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Information

The device uses a Lithium Polymer battery. For optimal battery life, avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures. If the device will not be used for an extended period, store it with a partial charge.

  • Wi-Fi Connection Issues:
