3. Setup
3.1 Initial Device Setup
Before first use, ensure the device is fully charged using the provided USB cable. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status.
3.2 Connecting Sensors
Connect the appropriate sensors (SpO2, ECG, NIBP tube, Temperature probe) to their designated ports on the monitor. Ensure connections are secure.
Video 3.2.1: This video demonstrates the connection of SpO2, ECG, NIBP, and Temperature sensors to a veterinary monitor, showing the application of each sensor to a dog for vital sign measurement.
- SpO2 Sensor: Attach the SpO2 sensor to a suitable location on the animal, such as the tongue or ear, ensuring good contact.
- ECG Cable: Connect the ECG electrode clips to the animal's limbs or torso as directed by a veterinarian, ensuring proper skin contact.
- NIBP Cuff: Select the appropriate size NIBP cuff for the animal's limb (thigh or forelimb). Secure the cuff firmly but not too tightly. Connect the NIBP tube to the cuff and the monitor.
- Temperature Probe: Insert the temperature probe into the animal's mouth or rectum for accurate temperature measurement.
3.3 Bluetooth Connection and App Setup
The monitor can connect to a compatible smart device (PC, Android, iPhone) via Bluetooth 4.0 for enhanced data management.
Video 3.3.1: This video demonstrates how to connect the BERRY Veterinary Monitor to a mobile application via Bluetooth, showing the steps to pair the device and view real-time data on the app interface.
- Download the "Berry Monitor" or "Pet Monitor" app from Google Play or the Apple App Store (refer to the APP manual for specific download methods).
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smart device.
- Power on the BERRY Veterinary Monitor.
- Open the app and search for available Bluetooth devices. Select "BerryMed" or the device ID to connect.
- Once connected, real-time data will be displayed on the app interface, allowing for data storage, analysis, and export.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off

4.2 Measurement Modes
The device may offer different modes for various animal types (e.g., Cat Mode, Dog Mode). Select the appropriate mode via the settings menu on the device or the connected app to optimize measurement parameters for the specific animal.
4.3 Taking Measurements
Once sensors are connected and the device is powered on, it will begin monitoring. Ensure the animal is calm and still for accurate readings.

Figure 4.3.1: The monitor displays real-time vital signs including SpO2, HR, SYS, DIA, RESP, and TEMP.
- SpO2 and Pulse Rate: Readings will appear automatically once the SpO2 sensor is correctly placed.
- ECG: The ECG waveform will be displayed once the electrodes are properly attached.
- NIBP (Blood Pressure): Press the NIBP button on the device or app to initiate a blood pressure measurement. The cuff will inflate and deflate automatically.
- Respiration: Respiration rate is typically derived from the ECG or a dedicated respiration sensor if available.
- Temperature: Temperature readings will be displayed once the probe is correctly positioned.
Video 4.3.2: This video illustrates the process of measuring blood pressure in a dog using the NIBP cuff and the BERRY Veterinary Monitor, showing the cuff application and the device displaying the readings.
4.4 Data Storage and Review
The device stores data internally and can transfer it to the connected app. The app allows for viewing historical data in tables and graphs, as well as exporting for further analysis.
4.5 Alarm Settings
The monitor features adjustable alarm limits for each parameter. Users can set high and low thresholds, and the device will alert if readings fall outside these ranges. Alarm sounds and volumes can also be customized via the app.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the device and sensors with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
- Storage: Store the monitor and accessories in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: Recharge the battery regularly to maintain its lifespan. Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods.
- Sensor Inspection: Regularly inspect all cables and sensors for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged components immediately.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No readings/Inaccurate readings | Loose sensor connection, incorrect sensor placement, animal movement. | Check all sensor connections, reposition sensors for optimal contact, ensure animal is calm. |
| Bluetooth connection failure | Bluetooth off on smart device, device out of range, interference. | Ensure Bluetooth is on, bring devices closer, restart both devices. |
| NIBP cuff not inflating/deflating properly | Cuff too loose/tight, tube kinked, air leak. | Adjust cuff placement and tightness, check NIBP tube for kinks or damage. |
| Device not powering on | Low battery, device malfunction. | Charge the device. If problem persists, contact support. |
