1. Introduction
The KOBRA 430 TS C4 is a high-performance industrial conveyor belt shredder designed for large shredding throughput and continuous operation. This machine efficiently shreds paper, CDs, DVDs, credit cards, and floppy disks into 1/4 x 2 inch (P-3) cross-cut particles. It features a robust "Super Potential Power Unit" with a heavy-duty chain drive system, carbon hardened steel cutting knives, and a 24-hour continuous duty motor. An integrated automatic oiling system ensures optimal performance. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of your KOBRA 430 TS C4 shredder.
2. Safety Instructions
- Read the Manual: Always read and understand all instructions in this manual before operating the shredder.
- Emergency Stop: Familiarize yourself with the location and operation of the emergency stop button. In case of an emergency, press this button immediately to halt all machine functions.
- Power Supply: Ensure the shredder is connected to a 208 Volt / 30 Amps, 3-phase power supply as specified. Do not use extension cords or adapters that are not rated for the machine's power requirements.
- Keep Clear: Keep hands, loose clothing, jewelry, and long hair away from the feed opening and conveyor belt during operation.
- Foreign Objects: Do not shred metal objects, glass, or other hard materials that are not specified as shreddable. The carbon hardened steel cutting knives are unaffected by staples and metal clips, but larger metal objects can cause damage.
- Supervision: Do not leave the shredder unattended while it is operating.
- Maintenance: Always unplug the shredder from the power outlet before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or troubleshooting.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the machine to prevent overheating.
3. Unpacking and Setup
Due to the significant weight of the KOBRA 430 TS C4 (approximately 480 kg or 1,060 lb), ensure proper lifting equipment and personnel are used during unpacking and placement. The shredder is equipped with casters for easier mobility once on the ground.
- Placement: Position the shredder on a level, stable surface with sufficient space for operation and maintenance.
- Power Connection: Connect the shredder to a dedicated 208 Volt / 30 Amps, 3-phase electrical outlet. Consult a qualified electrician if necessary.
- Waste Container Setup: The shredder includes a removable and sturdy 470-liter waste container. It can accommodate either two 235-liter plastic waste bags or one 470-liter bag. Install the appropriate waste bag(s) into the container and ensure it is properly seated within the cabinet.
- Automatic Oiling System: Locate the integrated automatic oiling system. Ensure the Kobra Oil (art. code SO-1532) reservoir is filled to the appropriate level. This system automatically lubricates the cutting knives for maximum efficiency.

4. Operating Instructions
The KOBRA 430 TS C4 is designed for user-friendly operation with its conveyor belt feeding system and automatic functions.
- Power On: Turn on the main power switch, usually located on the control panel. The shredder will enter standby mode.
- Feeding Material: Place the material to be shredded onto the conveyor belt. The shredder features an automatic start/stop function; the conveyor belt will activate when material is detected and stop once shredding is complete.
- Capacity: The shredder can handle up to 130 sheets of paper at a time. It also shreds CDs, DVDs, credit cards, and floppy disks. Do not overload the machine beyond its specified capacity.
- Continuous Operation: The 24-hour continuous duty motor allows for extended shredding sessions without a duty cycle or timed cool-down period.
- Status Indicators: Pay attention to the light signals on the control panel. These indicators will alert you to conditions such as a full waste container or an open cabinet door, which will automatically stop the shredder.
- Emergency Stop: In case of any malfunction or unsafe condition, immediately press the red emergency stop button.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your KOBRA 430 TS C4 shredder. Always unplug the shredder before performing any maintenance.
- Waste Bag Replacement: When the waste container full signal illuminates, turn off the shredder, open the cabinet door, and carefully remove the full waste bag(s). Replace with new plastic waste bag(s) and ensure they are properly secured. Close the cabinet door securely.
- Automatic Oiling System Check: Periodically check the oil level in the automatic oiling system reservoir. Refill with Kobra Oil (art. code SO-1532) as needed to ensure continuous lubrication of the cutting knives. This is crucial for maintaining shredding efficiency and extending the life of the cutting unit.
- Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the shredder clean using a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the conveyor belt area is free from debris.
- Cutting Knives: The carbon hardened steel cutting knives are designed to be robust and are unaffected by staples and metal clips commonly found in documents. However, avoid intentionally shredding large or excessive metal objects.

6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your KOBRA 430 TS C4 shredder.
- Shredder Does Not Start:
- Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a live electrical outlet.
- Ensure the main power switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Verify that the cabinet door is fully closed. The shredder will not operate if the door is open.
- Check the control panel for any error lights, such as 'waste container full'.
- Ensure the emergency stop button is not engaged.
- Shredder Stops During Operation:
- The waste container might be full. Empty the waste bag(s) and replace them.
- The cabinet door might have opened. Close it securely.
- An overload might have occurred. Reduce the amount of material being fed. The shredder has motor thermal protection and may temporarily shut down to prevent damage. Allow it to cool down before resuming operation.
- Poor Shredding Performance:
- Check the automatic oiling system reservoir. Ensure it contains Kobra Oil (SO-1532) and is properly lubricating the cutting knives.
- Ensure you are not exceeding the sheet capacity.
If these troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please contact KOBRA customer support.
