1. Introduction and Overview
The LUCKY Portable Fish Finder is designed to assist both amateur and professional fishermen in locating fish and understanding underwater topography. This device utilizes sonar technology to detect water depth, approximate fish location, and the presence of underwater structures such as short and tall weeds, sand, and rocks. All detected information is displayed on a clear color LCD screen, which is visible even under direct sunlight. A backlight feature ensures visibility during night fishing.
This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your LUCKY Portable Fish Finder to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The fish finder unit requires 4 AAA batteries for operation. To install the batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the fish finder unit.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Securely close the battery compartment cover.
Important: Always remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent potential damage from battery leakage.
3.2 Transducer Connection and Deployment
The wired transducer is essential for sonar readings. Connect the transducer cable to the fish finder unit. The transducer can be deployed in several ways:
- Casting: Attach the transducer to the end of the 25ft cable. Adjust the float stop to position the transducer approximately 6 inches below the water surface. Cast the transducer into the desired fishing area.
- Boat/Kayak Mounting: Use the provided side scan adapter, stainless bolt, and wing nut to mount the transducer to the side of your boat or kayak. Ensure the transducer is submerged and facing downwards.
- Ice Fishing: Place the transducer directly into a hole drilled in the ice, ensuring it is fully submerged.

5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliability of your fish finder:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe the fish finder unit and transducer with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Drying: Ensure all components are completely dry before storing to prevent corrosion and mold.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries from the unit if it will not be used for an extended period (e.g., more than a month) to prevent battery leakage and damage to the electronics.
- Water Exposure: The main unit is NOT waterproof. Avoid submerging the display unit in water. The transducer is designed for submersion.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your LUCKY Portable Fish Finder, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display/Unit won't turn on | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries | Replace batteries with new ones, ensuring correct polarity. |
| Inaccurate depth readings | Transducer not fully submerged or positioned incorrectly | Ensure transducer is fully in water and facing directly downwards. Check for air bubbles on the transducer face. |
| No fish icons displayed | Low sensitivity setting or no fish present | Increase sensitivity level. Move to a different fishing spot. |
| Display is dim/hard to read | Backlight off or low battery | Turn on backlight. Check battery level and replace if low. |
